Roles and responsibilities
- Provide power engineering support in the following areas generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) systems, battery strings, electrical distribution, and Grounding, Bonding, and Shielding (GBS).
- Develop and review architectural and engineering management plans for assigned projects and provide to the Government for review.
- Perform site surveys.
- Conduct pre and post site surveys of E&I projects and provide a written report of finding and engineering guidance to the 160th Signal Brigade and its subordinate Battalion HQs.
- Provide technical support in order to ensure timely resolution of equipment outages.
- Provide support with routine facility management.
- Prepare project cost estimates for Government review.
- Prepare and review project time schedules.
- Analyze project proposals, providing technical review of design calculations, analyses, drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with project objectives and standards.
- Provide input to the KO, COR or their designated representatives during construction contract negotiation and administration of the resulting contract.
- Coordinate all design phases with the appropriate managers, engineers, and staff elements.
- Maintain current engineering data and milestones for assigned projects.
- Participate in meetings with contractors and project sponsors.
- Advise the Government on inspection, maintenance and repair standards.
- Recommend new infrastructure equipment installations and modification to facilities to accommodate new communications equipment in support of mission requirements and reflective of new technologies.
- Evaluate programs and projects to assure compliance with all environmental, energy use, safety and security standards
- Due to Qatar's immigration and labor regulations, Qatar work visas cannot be issued to individuals aged 60 or over, and are not subject to a waiver. Additionally, foreign nationals aged 60 or older are unable to renew their Qatari visa or change sponsors. Therefore, per Qatar work visa regulations, candidates must be 59 years of age or younger to be eligible for a Qatari work visa as required for this position.
- An active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance.
- Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
- A minmium of five (5) years experience in the engineering of buildings and equipment such as HVAC, and low voltage (under 600 volts) electrical power systems and equipment.
- Knowledge of applicable construction standards, methods, practices and techniques, materials, and equipment to determine compliance with regulations and standards.
- Experience with work classifications and the regulator and statutory restrictions on the expenditures of appropriated and non-appropriated funds.
- Automated data processing concepts, systems capabilities, and economic usage to effective complete assignments.
- Project programming, determining types of resources, and long-range planning (Facilities Engineering, Electrical, and Power Engineering personnel)
- Planning, conducting and recording of surveys and reviewing Government inspections. (Facilities Engineering, and Engineering Technician and Drafting personnel)
- Experience using CADD system to develop engineering drawings (Engineering Technician and Drafting personnel) for Government review.
- Experience using AutoCAD format CADD drafting software i. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiar with National Electrical, Mechanical, and Building codes.
- Experience in trouble shooting electrical and mechanical systems.
- Journeyman Electrical License preferred and/or and Electrical Engineer.
- A minimum High Diploma or equivalent is required.
Desired candidate profile
Technical Support for Power Systems:
Provide technical assistance to engineers in the design, development, and optimization of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
Help troubleshoot and resolve issues with power equipment and systems, such as transformers, generators, circuit breakers, and switchgear.
Assist in the maintenance and repair of electrical power systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
System Monitoring and Performance Analysis:
Monitor power system operations and performance metrics, including voltage, frequency, and load distribution.
Use data analytics tools and software to analyze system performance and identify potential areas for improvement or potential failures.
Assist in diagnosing system problems and developing solutions to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
Power System Design Support:
Collaborate with engineers to design electrical power systems, ensuring they meet safety, efficiency, and regulatory standards.
Assist in the preparation of technical specifications, design documents, and other support materials for power engineering projects.
Provide input during the planning phase for new power projects or upgrades to existing systems.
Project Coordination and Documentation:
Assist with coordinating project timelines, resources, and documentation related to power engineering projects.
Support the tracking of project progress and help ensure that deliverables are met within deadlines and budget.
Maintain records and documentation related to power system maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
