Job Overview
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the upkeep and repair of all equipment and facilities within our timber processing operations. This role ensures that production runs smoothly by implementing robust preventive maintenance programs managing repairs promptly and leading a dedicated maintenance team all while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Operations:
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance plans for machinery (e.g. sawmills conveyors log handling equipment) and facility infrastructure.
- Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance repairs and inspections to minimize downtime.
- Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise train and mentor a team of maintenance technicians and support staff.
- Delegate tasks effectively and monitor team performance.
- Budget & Inventory Management:
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget including planning for equipment parts and supplies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities repairs and equipment status.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and enforce adherence to safety protocols.
- ProblemSolving & Continuous Improvement:
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and devise quick effective solutions.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and implement process improvements.
- Emergency Response:
- Develop and oversee emergency maintenance procedures.
- Be oncall to address urgent maintenance issues that may arise outside normal operating hours.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Maintenance or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance management preferably within the timber or manufacturing industries.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of industrial equipment maintenance and repair practices.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
- Leadership & Communication:
- Proven ability to lead a team manage projects and communicate effectively across departments.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Safety & Compliance Knowledge:
- Indepth knowledge of workplace safety standards and compliance requirements.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to noise dust and varying weather conditions.
- Occasional offhours or emergency callouts are expected.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
