Job Title: Middle School Special Education Teacher Location: Lawrence MA Employment Type: FullTime Reports to: School Principal / Director of Special Education Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Middle School Special Education Teacher to join our team in Lawrence MA. The teacher will provide individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs ensuring they have access to a highquality education in an inclusive and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Student Support - Develop and implement differentiated lesson plans to meet the diverse learning needs of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Provide direct instruction in smallgroup oneonone and inclusive classroom settings.
- Utilize evidencebased instructional strategies and assistive technology to enhance student learning.
- Modify curriculum assignments and assessments to accommodate students learning needs.
IEP Development & Compliance - Develop implement and monitor students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families and the IEP team.
- Conduct regular progress monitoring and update IEP goals as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) regulations.
Collaboration & Communication - Work closely with general education teachers to provide coteaching and inclusive classroom support.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals therapists and other specialists to support student success.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress challenges and successes.
Behavior & SocialEmotional Support - Implement classroom management strategies and positive behavior interventions to create a supportive learning environment.
- Support students in developing selfadvocacy social skills and emotional regulation strategies.
- Participate in Student Support Teams (SSTs) and contribute to behavior intervention plans when necessary.
Professional Development & School Involvement - Stay updated on best practices in special education through ongoing professional development.
- Participate in faculty meetings IEP meetings and schoolwide initiatives.
- Advocate for students with disabilities and promote inclusive education practices.
Qualifications & Requirements Education & Certification - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Massachusetts Special Education Teaching License (Moderate Disabilities 512).
Experience & Skills - Experience working with middle school students with diverse learning needs.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development special education laws and evidencebased instructional strategies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues families and support staff.
- Excellent classroom management and student engagement skills.
