The Construction Estimator is responsible for accurately assessing project costs while adhering to bid documents to produce an independent cost estimate. This role requires effectively managing drawings specifications subcontractors RFIs schedules and deadlines. The position also involves maintaining compliance with company policies developing strategic relationships with vendors and ensuring proper document control.
Review and analyze project blueprints specifications and other relevant documents to understand project requirements and scope.
Quantify materials labor and equipment needed for each phase of construction in accordance with industry standards (CSI).
Develop cost estimates using specialized software historical data and industry benchmarks to ensure accurate pricing.
Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive bids and proposals.
Work with architects engineers and drafters to verify accurate documentation of building plans.
Participate in estimating functions accurately document action items and maintain RFI and bid contact logs.
Ensure scopes of work are clearly understood and adhered to by subcontractors.
Research and prequalify new vendors subcontractors and suppliers for potential projects.
Maintain and update project files subcontractor contact records and the online estimating platform.
Prepare and present cost estimates proposals and supporting documentation to project stakeholders.
Identify costsaving opportunities through value engineering and alternative construction methods.
Monitor market trends and update cost databases to ensure accurate pricing and budgeting.
Identify potential risks and uncertainties that could impact project costs.
Bachelors degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years experience in estimating/preconstruction.
Strong knowledge of construction and design practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and constructionrelated software such as Building Connected Compass Bluebeam ProEst RSMeans and AIdriven estimating tools.
Strong research skills including internet search techniques and online data gathering.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to present estimates effectively to stakeholders and in public settings.
Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Independent thinker with problemsolving capabilities.
Reliable transportation for attending site visits prebid meetings and industry events.
Willingness to participate in industry networking events outside regular business hours.
Strong relationships with local subcontractors in the South Florida region.
Experience in MultiFamily Healthcare Municipal Industrial Educational and Commercial sectors.
