Job Description

About the role:

Reporting to the contract Manager in Weipa this full time position is responsible for ensuring that the running maintenance and drydockings of an assigned number of vessels is executed in a safe efficient and cost effective way. The technical Superintendent will maintain the technical status and maximize the uptime of our fleet. 

 Housing and vehicle will be provided whilst in Weipa.


Qualifications :

Key accountabilities of the role:

  • Ensure that day to day operations are performed in a safe professional efficient and costeffective manner.
  • Manage client expectations and buildup a close relationship and goodwill with the customer representative/client on site.
  • Coordinate and execute the daily running maintenance within budget on board of vessels.
  • Monitor and followup on the planned maintenance system.
  • Generate and approve purchase orders and requisitions and receive & inspect goods delivered.
  • Supervise coach and instruct Chief Engineers if and when required to ensure smooth and professional on board technical management
  • Undertake vessel inspections and report on the status of the vessels to the Regional Marine Manager and Contract Manager.
  • Investigate and analyse root causes of defects and take timely corrective and preventive actions.
  • Arrange surveys with flag state and classification authorities and other relevant parties.
  • Ensure full compliance of vessel certifications with flag state and class requirements.
  • Plan coordinate and execute dry dockings in line with quality standards agreed budgets and time lines.
  • Supervise and evaluate activities and performance of third party contractors and vendors.
  • Ensure damages to be surveyed and repaired in close consultation with classification societies and the insurance department.
  • Optimize and implement technical (new build) standards.
  • Maintain daily communication with assigned vessels.

 

About you:

  • Experience in Project Management
  • A strong communicator (verbal and written)
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical/Maritime Engineering or Naval Architecture.
  • Minimum 3 5 years in Ship Management as a Technical Superintendent or equivalent.
  • Team player with a collaborative approach maintaining high standards and good work ethics.
  • High level of organisational and planning skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver high quality outcomes that are accurate complete and timely.
  • Experience in Project Management an advantage

The successful applicant will be required to satisfy a company preemployment medical drug and alcohol and site inductions.
