Apprentice Electrician
Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated and dedicated Apprentice Electrician to join our team and specialise in the design installation and maintenance of electrical infrastructure for highvoltage and lowvoltage renewable energy projects. This apprenticeship offers an exciting opportunity to gain handson experience develop technical skills and build a rewarding career in the renewable energy sector.
As an Apprentice Electrician you will work alongside experienced professionals to learn how to design install and maintain electrical systems that are essential to renewable energy generation including wind solar and battery storage projects
Duties and Responsibilities
- Electrical Installation: Assist in the installation and wiring of electrical systems for highvoltage and lowvoltage renewable energy infrastructure ensuring all work is completed to the highest safety standards and project specifications.
- System Design Support: Work closely with senior engineers to assist in the design and development of electrical systems ensuring they meet project requirements and comply with industry regulations.
- Testing & Commissioning: Support the testing inspection and commissioning of electrical systems and components to ensure they function efficiently and safely.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Assist in the ongoing maintenance and repair of electrical systems in renewable energy projects including troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all electrical work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and industry best practices maintaining a high standard of safety in all tasks.
- Learning & Development: Take part in onthejob training technical workshops and formal classroombased learning to develop your knowledge and skills in electrical systems and renewable energy technologies.
- Documentation: Assist in the preparation of electrical schematics installation plans and reports ensuring accurate documentation of all work completed.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues in multidisciplinary teams contributing to the successful delivery of renewable energy projects.
Skills and Experience:
Educational Qualifications:
- GCSEs or equivalent (ideally including Mathematics English and Science at grade C or above).
- A keen interest in electrical engineering and renewable energy systems.
Skills and Experience:
- Basic understanding of electrical systems (preferably from previous work experience or education).
- Enthusiasm for renewable energy and sustainability.
- Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills in electrical design installation and maintenance.
Desirable but not essential:
- Experience or knowledge of working with highvoltage and lowvoltage electrical systems.
- Familiarity with electrical safety protocols and regulations.
- A basic understanding of renewable energy technologies such as solar wind or battery storage.
