Job Position: General Cashier

The General Cashier is responsible for handling all cash transactions within the hotel managing cash flow ensuring accurate reconciliation of daily revenues and safeguarding the hotels financial assets. This role involves working closely with different hotel departments to maintain accurate records ensure compliance with financial policies and support smooth financial operations.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Cash Collection & Handling:
- Collect verify and reconcile cash received from various hotel revenue centers.
- Ensure all cash collections are properly documented counted and securely stored before deposit.
- Maintain security and control over hotel cash ensuring strict adherence to cash handling policies.
- Prepare daily cash reports and ensure all cash reconciliations with Accountant.
- Issue change funds (float) to different cashiers in hotel outlets and verify proper handling.
- Ensure all overages or shortages in cash collections are investigated recorded and reported.
2. Bank Deposits & Reconciliation:
- Ensure REGULAR and timely deposits into the hotel s bank account.
- Verify POS receipts with POS audit reports and bank reports and reconcile with cash reports.
- Conduct daily weekly and monthly reconciliation of hotel cash accounts ensuring balances are accurate.
- Monitor and track credit card transactions ensuring timely settlements and bank clearances.
- Reconcile foreign currency transactions and maintain exchange rate records.
3. Petty Cash Management:
- Maintain and disburse petty cash funds for hotel expenses ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
- Review and verify petty cash reimbursement requests from employees ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Ensure the petty cash fund is reimbursed when needed including HODs reimbursements and expense claims according to hotel policies.
4. Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Maintain proper documentation and records of all cashrelated transactions for audit purposes.
- Report any cash discrepancies theft or fraud to the Finance Manager immediately.
- Assist in internal and external financial audits by providing required cash handling records and explanations.
5. Communication & Coordination:
- Work closely with hotel department heads and outlet cashiers to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Collaborate with the Accounts Payable and Receivable teams to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Communicate with banks regarding deposits discrepancies and cashrelated issues
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor s degree in Finance Accounting Business Administration or a related field.
- 24 years of experience in cash handling preferably in the hospitality or retail industry.
- Experience in a hotel finance department is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of cash handling procedures and reconciliation techniques.
- Proficiency in financial software (Opera Micros or similar).
- Familiarity with POS systems and credit card processing.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain financial records accurately and efficiently.
