Job Description
Job Role :Software Engineer
Location Chantily VA(Hybrid 3days onsite)
Job Details:
The primary responsibility is to support and upgrade applications written in Microsoft Visual Basic 6 and C#. Onsite technical evaluation is needed to understand how the laboratory operates and how the software systems are used by the onsite personnel. Candidate must be able to troubleshoot legacy software and design replacement software using modern technology.
Roles and Responsibilities
Evaluate existing legacy systems. May require direct communication with vendors and laboratory SMEs to understand the technical requirements.
Design code and unit test software solutions. Software must use objectoriented design and industry standard best practices.
Participate in the full SLDC. Help to review requirements for completeness and feasibility. Help other team members such as QA testers to understand technical specifications that may be needed to perform System or Integration Testing.
Review new and existing modules to ensure optimal performance and stability.
Own the interfaces that are delivered and be an SME for those interfaces to be able to provide support understand the impact of enhancements and evaluate the potential risk of changes.
Work with other software engineers to discuss design ensure best practices are followed and perform design and code reviews.
Work directly with the Team Lead report any issues or delays and provide recommendations for solutions.
Contribute to the teams continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
Education Preferred: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Work Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in Microsoft related software engineering may have a mix of Microsoft and Java experience.
Communication: Ability to read and evaluate technical specifications. Ability to write design documentation. Ability to communicate effectively with IT team members and nonIT personnel (e.g. lab employees).
Demonstrated proficiency in objectoriented design relational databases multitier architectures and webrelated technologies.
Languages/Frameworks/Platforms/etc: Visual Basic .NET MS SQL Server RESTful Webservices SQL/TSQL/PLSQL or equivalent XML JSON. Some Java experience also preferred.
Desired: Experience with medical systems ASTM HL7 Angular.
