The group provides and supports software solutions for CERNs engineering community comprising of both onsite engineering teams and external collaborating partners.  One of the groups main activities is the implementation evolution and continuous support of CERNs PLM platform used to manage design data and technical documentation for the entire Organization.  

We are currently in the challenging process of replacing our existing landscape of silo applications with a modern PLM platform. This new PLM will become one of the centrepieces for managing the digital thread of engineering data.  In addition to the PLM activities the group provides many other engineering software solutions including Enterprise Asset Management Work Permitting as well as multiCAD system support on a CERNwide basis. This integrated portfolio of applications contains information about millions of equipment many being part of unique installations with very long lifecycles. In total over 10000 users depend on the software solutions provided by the group. 

Functions 

As a PLM Business Analyst and Application Engineer you will be a key member of the PLM Service team providing CERNs engineering design community with a wide range of applications in an integrated engineering data management environment. 

You will: 

  • Manage initiatives in analysing transforming and implementing engineering processes with the PLM platform.    

  • Provide PLM users with technical expertise and advice disseminating best practices and resolving problems including both PLM capabilities and CAD data management; 

  • Exchange with keyusers in order to translate needs and requirements into design specifications and highlevel data or process models; 

  • Elaborate and document new business processes and contribute to training the PLM user community; 

  • Configure and maintain PLM tools according to the Organisations needs processes and standards; 

  • Collaborate with internal and external development teams to augment systems and fill functionality gaps;  

  • Play an active role in the continuous effort of improving both the services and tools provided. 


Qualifications :

Masters degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of mechanical electrical or computing engineering or a related field.

Experience:

  • Professional experience in using and configuring PLM tools. (Knowledge of Aras would be a plus) 

  • Experience in software and/or process transformation projects in an engineering environment

  • Proven experience in definition documentation and management of requirements and processes

  • Demonstrated skills and genuine interest in providing user support and building user relations

The following experience would be an asset: 

  • Professional experience working with CAD tools

  • Practical experience of Digital Twins or Simulation tools

  • Business Intelligence / Database Querying (SQL) / Reporting.

Language skills:

Spoken and written English: ability to understand and speak in professional contexts (level C1 minimum). Ability to draw up technical specifications and/or scientific reports and to make oral presentations.
Ability to understand and speak or willingness to learn and improve French (courses provided by CERN).
