Your responsibilities
The Engineering (EN) Departments Information Management (IM) group is seeking a highly motivated fullstack software engineer with excellent technical skills and a genuine interest in learning new things. You will join a young international development team within the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) section whose mission is to provide product data management capabilities including design and CAD (ComputerAided Design) data management for the entire accelerator complex and its detectors.
We are currently engaged in a challenging project to introduce a new modern PLM platform by simplifying the existing landscape of heterogeneous applications and enabling the Organization to advance towards engineering Digital Twins. In total over 5000 users depend on the software provided by the group.
In your role you will:
- Implement backend applications using Java or .NET.
- Build web applications using modern technologies (React/Electron/TypeScript).
- Integrate 3D model visualization technologies: web and native viewers virtual/augmented reality.
- Perform code reviews testing delivery and support of the software.
- Carry out data analysis and data migrations.
- Contribute to a project delivering engineering Digital Twins of CERN installations.
Your profile
Skills
- Backend development using Java or .NET
- Frontend development using React or Angular
- Experience with SQL databases
- Proficiency with Git
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools
- Fluent in English
Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- By the application deadline you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Information Technology (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelors or Masters degree.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
- Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
Additional Information :

Contract duration: 24 months with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
Working hours: 40 hours per week
