Sheet Line Operator

Roles and responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible of:

Performs a range of tasks using or maintaining equipment in a single process area.
Performs initial machine start up and make adjustments throughout the production run.
Prepares the site for operational or maintenance work, including start-up, shut-down.
Ensures a clean and safe production floor at all times.
Loads raw material into the machine, manually cycles, and unloads the finished product.
Collects field data and report to a higher level for analysis to ensure equipment is operating and maintained effectively.
Participates in operating and safety trainings and to ensure standards of performance are achieved
Fills out production batch records when needed.
Complies with all relevant quality and HSE procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
Minor trouble shooting, reporting malfunctions/status and handing over to ensure that a safe operation is maintained.
Verifies that the site equipment of work that the role is coordinating is prepared for maintenance, with supervision
Routinely checks the product against fixed gauges and adjusts set-up accordingly.
Operating the Sheet Production Line
Monitor production: Oversee the entire sheet production process, ensuring that machines are functioning properly and efficiently.
Control machinery: Operate and adjust machines that produce sheets, such as rolling mills, extrusion machines, or other sheet-forming equipment.
Adjust settings: Make necessary adjustments to machinery settings based on production requirements, such as thickness, width, and material specifications.
Ensure material flow: Ensure continuous flow of materials through the machine to maintain consistent production levels and quality.
Quality Control and Inspection
Inspect finished sheets: Regularly inspect the sheets produced for defects, including inconsistencies, scratches, or size deviations.
Quality assurance: Ensure that the sheets meet the required specifications for thickness, width, smoothness, and other quality parameters.
Record production data: Keep track of production outputs, quality checks, and any deviations from the standard in production reports or logs.
Conduct tests: Perform tests on the sheets, such as measuring thickness, conducting strength tests, or evaluating surface quality to confirm that the product is up to standard.

Desired candidate profile

Diploma in Plastic Fabrication with minimum of 2 years work experience in sheet extrusion.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

Knowledge & understanding about plastic processing especially on plastic extrusion process.
Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Preventive maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on the production machinery, such as cleaning, lubrication, and replacing worn parts, to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues or malfunctions with the sheet production machines, working closely with maintenance teams to make necessary repairs.
Machine calibration: Ensure that machinery is correctly calibrated and adjusted to avoid production errors and minimize downtime.
Material Handling
Loading raw materials: Load raw materials such as coils, resins, or paper pulp into the machinery for sheet production.
Stock management: Keep track of material inventory, ensuring that the necessary raw materials are available to maintain production schedules.
Material transport: Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts or conveyors to move materials to and from the production area.
Safety and Compliance
Safety procedures: Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed to prevent accidents and injuries.
Personal protective equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate PPE, such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection, when operating machinery and handling materials.
Report safety hazards: Report any unsafe working conditions or equipment malfunctions to supervisors and assist in corrective actions.
Regulatory compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to safety, quality, and environmental practices.
