Program Manager

Position Overview
Launched in 2024 by Year Up United and MassBio in partnership with the City of Boston the Life Sciences Career Alliance connects stakeholders across Greater Bostons life sciences workforce ecosystem to create sustainable systems that enhance employment outcomes for local talent and build a diverse futureready entrylevel workforce pipeline for employers. We are seeking a Program Manager to oversee and coordinate the internal activities for the Alliance focusing on the design and execution of impactful events that engage stakeholders employers and talent. This position requires comprehensive experience in event planning including fullcycle management from inception to execution. The Program Manager will play a key role in community outreach building scalable systems and processes to enhance the programs efficiency and impact. Additionally the role involves organizing virtual and inperson activities including talent matching mentoring networking and career development support. The successful candidate will work directly with the talent population and be accountable for driving successful program delivery through effective project management and the integration of innovative technology solutions. This is a hybrid position that will report to the Senior Director Alliance Lead and must be based in the Greater Boston area.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead the design planning implementation and evaluation of both virtual and inperson activities working closely with the Senior Director to ensure alignment with the programs strategic objectives.
- Oversee the complete lifecycle of key activities including:
- Coordinating talent for informational interviews.
- Organizing employer site visits and mentorship opportunities.
- Managing skillsfocused webinars and professional development events.
- Facilitating job search initiatives and career skills training sessions.
- Ensure the seamless execution of endtoend event planning with a focus on logistics stakeholder engagement and measurable outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with talent populations including young professionals and opportunity talent to support their career development and ensure they are fully engaged throughout the program.
- Take ownership of project deliverables ensuring each event or initiative meets objectives stays within timelines and exceeds expectations.
Internal Operations & Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate internal logistics and oversee the preparation and execution of events aligning them with the programs goals and objectives.
- Serve as the primary liaison for stakeholder engagement ensuring clear communication and collaboration between internal teams external partners and talent.
- Establish and implement systems and processes that enhance the scalability and efficiency of the programs operations.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders ensuring they are informed of key activities and milestones and understand the programs impact.
Tech Systems & Process Optimization
- Leverage and pilot new technology systems to improve internal operations and support the programs strategic objectives.
- Work with IT teams to optimize and integrate technology solutions that streamline program delivery and improve efficiency.
- Continuously evaluate the potential of emerging technologies to enhance processes increase operational effectiveness and optimize event execution.
Community Engagement & Outreach
- Develop and execute strategies for engaging with community partners and stakeholders to build a network of support for the program.
- Cultivate strong relationships with employers talent and community organizations ensuring sustained engagement and the successful growth of the program.
- Drive outreach efforts that amplify the programs visibility and impact within the broader community.
Skills & Experience
- Must be based in the Greater Boston area and have the ability to occasionally travel to YUUs Downtown Boston office and local external events as needed.
- 5 years of experience in event planning and execution with a focus on endtoend management of both virtual and inperson activities.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management including the ability to lead complex projects coordinate multiple stakeholders and deliver results on time and within budget.
- Proven ability to engage and build relationships with diverse community stakeholders including employers talent and organizational partners.
- Handson experience working directly with opportunity talent with a background in coaching career development or workforce initiatives.
- Comfortable utilizing technology to improve processes with proficiency in MS Excel PowerPoint and Project Management tools such as Airtable Slack Trello etc.; experience with Salesforce is a plus.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively convey complex information to various audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team to drive successful outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt and deliver results in a flexible fastpaced and agile working environment.
- Knowledge or experience in healthcare biotech or life sciences is a plus.
