The ITS Operations function is accountable for the delivery of all internal technology infrastructure including Server Storage & Backup Cloud Infra Exchange Skype File Services as well as platforms underpinning SQL SAP Enterprise (IT) Security Services. It also provides technology that supports the service lines in delivering client facing or client engagements as part of its client IT services.
Team Summary
Infrastructure Storage Services team provides services such as Storage Backup and Archival Platforms. The team plays an important part in the support of a core infrastructure service that underpins many other infrastructure and application platforms. The team works predominantly with all the infrastructure and application teams to maintain business continuity around the security of platforms of the organization Interfacing with business application owners to provide Storage and Backup support and guidance.
Responsibilities
Management & Administration of the NetApp/IBM Storage environment
Maintain the configuration deployment and ongoing support and enhancements of the NetApp/IBM infrastructures which host enterprise applications within the firm.
Participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure job scheduling backup efficiency capacity management system performance offsite replication and maintenance that is consistent with company goals industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Administer Storage and backup solutions in keeping with longterm strategic plan for Storage and backup system management and platform maturity including crossplatform/multicloud recovery business continuity/disaster recovery automation and cost optimization.
Design and distribute backup reports to system owners and stakeholders.
Follow and contribute processes and procedures to be used by all responsible parties in system deployment maintenance and administration activities in accordance with company policies industry standards and recommended practices.
Contribute to availability data protection and system integrity strategies globally. Monitor to ensure these objectives are met and escalate exceptions through to resolution.
Perform daily SAN Storage operational tasks Aggregate/Volume/LUN/space provisioning monitoring troubleshoot issues (e.g. latency performance etc. ) and initiate corrective action.
Maintain Storage capacity inline with the firms requirements.
Create documentation/knowledge base articles for other support members/teams to follow.
Perform problem management and incident correlation on reoccurring issues; suggest and document workarounds and solutions.
Collaborate with other members of the wider IT Services team on design and troubleshooting issues.
Work with vendors where necessary to maintain software and hardware keep within supported versions.
Perform diagnosis troubleshoot and conduct rootcause analysis for any issues escalated on the storage and backup platforms within the Firm.
Create and provide reports for backup and storage environments and related activities and tasks.
Perform management of the backup implemented for clients; monitor backup jobs execute restore jobs troubleshoot failed jobs and initiate corrective action.
Create and update documentation for storage and backup environments. The documentation would include: standard operating procedures solutions knowledge base articles and applicable project documentation
Be part of a Storage team on call rota outside of normal working hours to help resolve major incidents.
Process improvement tracking and continual service improvement management.
Able to work as part of a geographically separated team.
Ability to solve problems quickly and completely and to communicate them clearly to peers customers and management.
Document disaster recover procedures and perform regular tests.
Troubleshooting and Breakfix (Incidents & Service requests.
Performs systematic and periodic application infrastructure availability check tasks.
Essential
Experience in a similar role and Enterprise organization
Experience in Storage lifecycle support from provision through to decommission.
Expert knowledge on storage hardware technologies NetApp cDOT and/or IBM SVC/FS5200 Block based platforms.
Expert knowledge on Veritas NetBackup
Expert knowledge of SAN fabric technologies particularly Cisco MDS/Nexus SAN Fabric
Expert knowledge of NetApp ESeries Hardware and Santricity
Strong Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of Storage Protocols such as CIFS/SMB/FC/iSCSI
Administration and Troubleshooting HPE Connected Backup
Configuration and administration NetApp Unified Manager/NetApp OCI
Scripting & Reporting services
Exceptional communications skills both written and verbal
Experience in monitoring / managing Storage estate and infrastructure.
ITIL V3 Service Operations knowledge preferred (Event Management Incident Management Change Management and Problem Management).
Strong vendor management experience
A strong track record of delivering continual service improvement.
Be able to communicate effectively technical issues with technical and nontechnical audience.
A solid understanding of the ITIL framework
