Job Description

We are currently hiring for a Procurement Manager in Ottawa. As a leader in Supply Chain Management (SCM) you will guide a team of Buyers in executing a unified procurement strategy that supports manufacturing and internal customers. You will coordinate procurement activities ensuring efficient material and service acquisition while proactively identifying opportunities and mitigating risks through datadriven analysis. Your ability to translate complex issues into actionable solutions will drive supplier performance improvements in quality delivery and cost. Clear communication and collaboration will be key as you will align SCM priorities with business objectives fostering strong relationships with senior leadership internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers.

More about your day to day:

  • Lead a team of Buyers 
  • Coordinate all activities necessary to successfully support the material and service procurement requirements of internal customers primarily Manufacturing.
  • Provides focal review of SCM advanced planning and consolidation of forecast from revenuedown and proposal/project activity upward.
  • Analytical approach to understanding trends to predict future opportunity and or risk.
  • Ability to develop effective metrics.
  • Lead resolution of supplier performance including crisis management with regard to Quality Delivery and Cost.
  • To be able to conceptualize complex issues and translate them to executable steps for quick resolution.
  • Responsible for clearly articulating issues and possible solutions.
  • Responsible for identifying risk assess impact and develop mitigation strategies.
  • To be able to defuse difficult situations.
  • Ensures adequate communication of requirements forecasts proposal status project deliverables acquisition strategies vendor development risk mitigation efforts and any other mission critical supplyside requirements.
  • Ensures adequate communication of SCM activities strategies progress and priorities to facilitate alignment of efforts understanding and accountabilities.
  • Transmits potential short term and long term new vendor identification information to SCM teams to ensure full due diligence and qualification efforts occur prior to designin or commercial commitments.
  • Bridges the organizations to ensure accurate target prices are set actual historical values utilized in bids and ongoing improvements measured.
  • Building effective working relationships with senior management internal customers external customers and strategic suppliers
  • Ensures intergroup gaps are closed and that SCM processes are optimized and mapped according to business unit strategies and businesses.
  • Participates in selected Vendor evaluations supply chain design and integration IRB/SME/Aboriginal business obligation strategies.
  • Supports the identification benchmarking and development of key suppliers.
  • Strict adherence to ISO/AS9100 purchasing requirements as well as all laws (procurement contract export etc.) and corporate policies

Qualifications :

  • University degree (Business Administration Engineering or Accounting)
  • PMI CPIM and/or CPP Certification
  • 10  years experience in a high technology defense government or manufacturing environment
  • Preferred experience in a military production environment
  • Experienced in : Microsoft Office suite (Word Excel) ERP Systems
  • Program/Project Management skills or experience proven ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities 
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Customer focused
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
