Job Description

Job Title: Processing Technician/Scientific Laboratory Technician Lv1
Client: Food Manufacturing Company
Duration: 10 months
Location: Elk River MN 55330
Shift: Monday Friday 6:30 AM 3:00 PM CST
(Occasional Saturdays
halfdays from 7:00 AM 10:00 AM about once per month)

General Information

Job Description:
The Laboratory Technician will complete routine analytical and laboratory testing in support of the food safety quality and operational teams.

  • Perform routine analysis of product testing.
  • Check and monitor instrumentation performance.
  • Conduct tests under intermediate supervision.
  • Document results in databases and communicate test results.
  • Help develop food/feed safety quality and regulatory culture.
  • Collaborate crossfunctionally to improve food safety and regulatory culture.
  • Run calibration checks preventive maintenance and simple repairs on analytical instruments.
  • Maintain customer specification books up to date.
  • Interpret and document test results in active databases.
  • Ensure compliance programs for all individual testing including monitoring.
Processing Technician

Position Overview:

  • Responsible for receiving and processing incoming lab samples.
  • Accurately evaluate and report results.
  • Retain lab samples according to the designated retention policy.
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Daily processing of samples (receive sort label and grind incoming samples).
  • Execute needed testing (NIR scanning dry matter analysis pH and particle size analysis).
  • Daily retention of laboratory samples (store dispose and relocate samples to maintain an accurate inventory).
  • Follow workplace safety policies and participate in the lab housekeeping program.
Required Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years work experience.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed and occasionally Saturdays.
Miscellaneous Position Notes:
  • Leather (or similar) shoes required for laboratory work.
  • Contact lenses are not allowed in the laboratory.
  • A clean shave will be required for tasks requiring respirator use.
  • Various animal feed ingredients may contain potential allergens including but not limited to:
    Milk peanuts eggs tree nuts soy gluten fish and shellfish.
Requirements:
  • Background check and drug test must be completed.
