Job Description: MAX BILL RATE: BR/HR.
MondayFriday during normal business hours 8:005:00 PM with some flexibility.
Day shift hours approximately 3040 hrs per week
Duration is expected to be 12 months
Work will be: 1) Support of semiworks (< 1.5 metric tons) production for feed ingredients including sample collection analysis and characterization of both inprocess and finished feed and feed components produced with ingredients primarily coming from a corn wet milling process. 2) Analytical support of ongoing research projects throughout the business. 3) Daily laboratory cleanliness organization and chemical and supply inventory auditing and reporting. 4) Other duties as assigned.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
a. Collection and analysis of samples under the supervision of a lead investigator as outlined in methods SOPs experimental designs and verbal instructions. Ability to execute on assigned tasks including thoroughly and accurately documenting and communicating results with minimal direct and mainly indirect supervision in a detailed manner.
b. Analysis of collected or submitted samples primarily through wet chemistry enzymatic assay and instrumentation (HPLC rheology moisture determination protein analysis) based techniques.
c. Gathering samples and raw materials from a potentially physically demanding production environment while adhering to personal safety food safety and general operation program guidelines.
d. Training and active participation in the facility safety program with extreme importance placed on adherence to facility and lab safety standards and programs.
e. Routine lab duties (cleaning solution prep basic instrument daily preparation inventory auditing etc.)
f. Flexibility around assigned responsibilities as this position will need to support critical production and therefore priorities may be shifted on extremely short notice.
Required Qualifications:
B.S. (or M.Sc.) in Biology Chemistry Biochemistry or Food Science with laboratory experience.
Familiarity with sample prep and analysis via various techniques.
Ability to conduct lab work and maintaining detailed records of all findings. Some familiarity with testing food samples is beneficial.
Experience with various analytical instruments with HPLC and nitrogen analysis via combustion being the primary methodologies and various wet chemistry techniques.
Ability to execute on assigned tasks with only moderate direct oversight by lead investigator.
Dress Code:
Casual: jeans and shirt no sleeveless shirts or shorts. No mesh or opentoed shoes. Safety boots and glasses will be provided. Uniform/lab coat will be provided if needed.
Must complete background check and drug test.
