Job Overview: The Steward plays a key role in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the cafes kitchen dining areas and other workspaces. This role involves washing dishes cleaning kitchen equipment and assisting with food preparation tasks as required. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Wash dishes glassware utensils and kitchen equipment thoroughly ensuring they are clean and sanitized for use.
- Clean and maintain kitchen and dining areas including floors countertops and appliances to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Assist kitchen staff with food preparation by chopping peeling and preparing ingredients as directed.
- Stock and organize kitchen supplies and ensure that clean dishes and utensils are readily available for kitchen and frontofhouse use.
- Dispose of waste and rubbish in accordance with cafe standards ensuring proper segregation of recyclables and nonrecyclables.
- Clean and sanitize workstations and kitchen surfaces after use to prevent crosscontamination and maintain food safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including safe food handling practices.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of kitchen stations especially during opening and closing shifts.
- Help with inventory management ensuring that kitchen cleaning products disposables and other materials are stocked and available.
- Assist with special cleaning tasks as needed including deep cleaning kitchen equipment and other cafe areas on a regular basis.
- Support the frontofhouse team with basic tasks such as cleaning tables refilling condiment stations or organizing dining areas during busy periods.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and service staff to maintain a smooth flow of operations and meet customer expectations.
