Tier 2 Bachelors Degree (B.A.) from fouryear college or university; or 25 years of experience in a purchasing demand planning and/or materials planning experience Strong analytical skills SAP knowledge and use Strong organization and task prioritization skills Excellent written and verbal communication Ability to work independently Proficiency in Microsoft Office software skills and a demonstrated ability to develop Excel spreadsheets Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY The $115M 300 employee Powder Coatings business produces both decorative and functional powder coatings for everything from architectural to general industrial applications. The Materials Planner is responsible for planning and monitoring the materials and product flow/inventory as required by the production schedule. The incumbent ensures that materials are delivered in a timely manner product is properly shipped to the materials warehouses and confirms supplier compliance with delivery. The Materials Planner understands the demand forecast/consumption to balance analyze and manage changes to the schedule to effectively have raw materials needed without excess inventory. S/he must be adaptable to a fastpaced and dynamic environment and may have oversight of other Supply Chain employees. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Utilizes demand forecasts and production schedules to create and maintain raw material supply plan and master production schedules. Interfaces with manufacturing warehousing logistics technical support purchasing and R&D to ensure availability of necessary raw materials. Ensures that raw material shortages are identified and resolved in a timely manner Drives the resolution process of MRP exceptions and resolves MRP discrepancies. Reviews open order reports and other indicators to ensure a timely delivery of raw material to support production schedules Identifies negotiates and resolves conflicts with respect to material and capacity availability and order promising. Notifies Manufacturing and other internal stakeholders whenever an existing shipment commitment is in jeopardy and recommends alternatives on how the requested demand could be satisfied. Assists Demand Planning Team in setting priorities when demand exceeds supply. Maintains inventory levels within established goals and guidelines and recommends adjustments in stocking levels. Monitors and implements actions to minimize raw material inventory. Maintains parameters such as lead times lot sizes scales safety stocks and other item attributes for all raw material items. Ensures that all processes are conducted according to approved procedures. Manages the tactical business relationship between the supplier and Axalta and ensures the communications are clear and appropriate Investigates and drives corrective actions to receiving and accounting problems related to purchase orders Other duties as assigned.
