Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Maintenance and Operations

  • Maintain and monitor the network hardware e.g., active network gear, switches, routers, firewall and remote access and configuration standards for server and workstation hardware, server operating systems and directory systems to ensure proper functioning and timely upgradation/ repair.
  • Manage all networks related software applications licenses while coordinating with vendors regarding renewals, upgrades, support and maintenance agreements, etc. in accordance to defined policies and contractual agreements.
  • Co-ordinate with suppliers for warranty, repair/replacement of parts and pending work to ensure systems are always functional.

Incident Management

  • Troubleshoot and resolve network related incidents and ensure timely/ efficient delivery of network and telecommunication services for the NOMAC corporate office, while maintaining availability, performance, integrity and security of business network systems.
  • Conduct testing, analysis, fault-finding and repair activities using required testing and troubleshooting tools and techniques and investigate possible reasons of performance problems in order to implement corrective measures in accordance with defined IT quality standards and security guidelines.

Network Security

  • Check server logs, monitor network traffic, run virus scans and ensuring security patches are up to date to avoid security breaches.
  • Maintain network security infrastructure to ensure that all data is properly secured while providing primary support and maintenance for all network security equipment across the network.
  • Review security logs from firewalls, switches, routers, etc. to determine cause of security related events or identify potential threats and troubleshoots security problems/failures while reporting suspected network misuse, unresolved network security exposures or noncompliance to the Supervisor.
  • Update Anti-Virus for all Users and resolve virus related issues to ensure all systems and networks are up to date to avoid security breaches.
  • Analyze security incidents, resolve and/or escalate security events and security related issues received, to maintain the integrity of the organizations IT systems and Data.

  • Contribute in the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programmes and projects in line with the organisation’s standards.

  • Adhere to all relevant organisational and departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out to the required standard and in a consistent manner.

  • Adhere to all relevant health, safety, security and environmental procedures, instructions and controls so that the safety of employees and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.

Desired candidate profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or Information Systems

Minimum Experience:

  • 5 years of experience

Skills:

  • Achievement orientation
  • Strong technical background with Microsoft Windows and Cisco
  • Business and industry knowledge.
  • Understanding of business needs, requirements and problems and how Information Technology can contribute to value creation.
  • Detailed understanding and knowledge of software and hardware applications.
  • Time management.
  • Hands-on experience in Network Operation Center
  • Project management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
