Job Description

Targeted hourly pay range: Minimum of $23 to a maximum of $25

BENEFITS

Position Purpose:  
Performs duties required to prepare hazardous waste materials for incineration in a safe and efficient manner; breaks down and extracts material from various containers and repackages per process plan for feeding into incinerator.

Primary Duties/responsibilities: 

  • Assemble boxes and stage all necessary materials for processing and repackaging waste into charge boxes for incinerator.
  • Suit up with proper personal protection equipment and other necessary equipment for environmental protection.
  • Break down and extract waste materials (including hard solids that may require jackhammer) from various vendor containers and dumps into mixing pan.
  • Process materials into various combinations of solids mixes and/or slurries and repackages into charge boxes per process/plan; weighs all charges to meet process plan specifications.
  • Record all material processed to maintain inprocess inventory data using electronic scanning devices.
  • Shrinkwrap charges; move to incinerator dock for burning.
  • Consolidate material from drums into rolloff containers for incineration.
  • Reclaim vendor drums for recycling and crush drums that are not reusable.
  • Dump waste hoppers and clean process area and maintain cleanliness around department.
  • Change out air supply banks (provides clean air source for personal protective suits) as required.
  • Maintain a complete inventory of personal protection equipment and other department supplies.
  • Communicate with all leadmen and oncoming shift crews as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Education / Experience / Background: 

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Add subtract multiply and divide decimals and fractions simple use of formulas charts use adjustable measuring instruments where interpretation is required.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: 

  • Ability to communicate through reading and writing.
  • Trained in the use of material handling equipment.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training: 

  • 40Hour HAZWOPER training preferred.
