Part-time Laboratory Assistant

SGS Alaska Division has been the leading fullservice environmental laboratory in Alaska for over 50 years. You will be a part of a team that understands the importance of employing qualified enthusiastic resourceful people. SGS Anchorage is a full service ISO accredited laboratory analyzing a variety of matrices for environmental pollutants. You will help provide local service to Alaskan clients that report to government regulatory agencies and private individuals.

The Laboratory Assistant will complete a wide variety of support tasks for the Lab Technicians and Lab Analysts ensuring best quality by following SGS SOPs. The Laboratory Assistant works independently and as part of a team to ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks. The Laboratory Assistant always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.

Job functions:

• Signs out supplies from supply room.
• Maintains adequate supply of accessories consumables chemicals etc. in each lab to ensure efficiency of production work.
• Disposes of samples after the appropriate retention period.
• Documents in LIMS and disposes of expired/depleted chemicals.
• Assembles nontreated inhouse media.
• Decontaminates/cleans laboratory glassware containers accessories etc. following SOPs.
• Performs administrative tasks as needed.
• Adheres to internal standards policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications :

• High school diploma (Required)
• HS diploma and 12 years of general work experience (Preferred)
• Proficient English language skills (Required)
• Basic reasoning and mathematical skills (Required)
• Basic computer skills (Required)
• Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lb on a frequent basis (Required)
