A FINANCIAL REPORTING ACCOUNTANT AT DEBMARINE NAMIBIA:
- Optimises financial control at Namdeb Holdings and De Beers Namibia holdings by:
- Providing input and recommendations to the Financial Reporting Manager for the formulation of accounting policies and procedures;
- Monitoring adherence to policies and procedures taking corrective action where necessary and regularly reviewing the effectiveness of these policies and procedures.
- Implements and monitors procedures and protocols that align with regulatory standards and best practices to ensure that computerized accounting systems meet adequate audit trails and internal control requirements.
- Monitors legal updates and integrating compliance measures into the companys financial practices and reporting procedures.
- Assists internal and external auditors in their onsite duties and oversees year end audits
- Determines tax liabilities through comprehensive analysis of financial records and adherence to tax laws and regulations.
- Prepares cashflow forecasts and budgets for review by the Financial Reporting Manager and reviews monthly general ledger reconciliations and trial balance.
- Submits statutory returns related to the finance function and ensure compliance to all legal requirements.
- Prepares company financial statements in accordance with company and IFRS requirements and standards.
- Prepares and submit financial reporting packs to the De Beers Group.
- Prepares group consolidation reports for monthly reporting and ad hoc financial information for management and board meetings.
Qualifications :
CANDIDATE MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Accounting / Finance
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification
- Six (6) years relevant experience
- Experience working on SAP FI will be an added advantage
THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES ARE KEY FOR THIS POSITION:
- Computer Literacy (Ms Office)
- Knowledge of IFRS and SAP FI
- Knowledge of Namibian Tax Legislation
- Financial Statement Preparation Software
- Presenting and Communicating Information
