Job Summary The QC and Production Manager for the Colton Industries will oversee the efficient functioning of
production lines ensuring optimal production processes quality control and research and development
(R&D) for innovative chemical products. This role involves coordinating production planning and
forecasting maintaining a catalogue of innovative and qualitative products and ensuring compliance
with Nigerian regulatory bodies. The position requires an experienced leader to drive productivity while
maintaining high standards in safety quality and operational efficiency.
Main Tasks &
Responsibilities
1. Research and Development (R&D):
Lead R&D initiatives for the development of innovative construction chemical products (e.g.
admixtures sealants coatings etc.).
Identify industry trends and customer needs ensuring new product development aligns with
market demands.
Manage formulation improvements to enhance product quality and performance.
Collaborate with internal teams to transfer labscale innovations into largescale production.
Manage the R&D budget timelines and testing procedures for new products.
2. Quality Control:
Collaborate with QC Unit to implement and oversee/supervise quality control systems to
ensure all products meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
Liaise with QC Unit to conduct quality audits and regular tests to ensure consistency in
chemical formulations and product performance.
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement corrective and preventive actions
(CAPA) to address any product defects or deviations.
Liaise with QC Unit to ensure compliance with local and international quality standards such
as ISO 9001 and relevant Nigerian regulatory bodies
3. Production:
Oversee daytoday production operations ensuring efficiency minimizing downtime and
optimizing throughput.
Ensure adherence to health safety and environmental regulations during production.
Monitor production KPIs (efficiency downtime waste etc.) and implement continuous
improvement techniques such as lean manufacturing.
Maintain operational machinery and coordinate with the maintenance department to ensure
minimal disruptions.
4. Production Planning:
Develop and manage production schedules based on demand forecasts stock levels and raw
material availability.
Ensure timely and costefficient production to meet customer orders and maintain inventory
levels.
Analyze and adjust production plans in response to changes in customer orders or supply
chain disruptions.
Coordinate with sales and procurement teams to align production with market demand and
supplier capabilities.
5. Team Leadership and Management:
Lead motivate and develop a highperforming team of production supervisors QC
Supervisors/Managers Research and Development Officers etc.
Foster a culture of learning research safety accountability and continuous improvement.
Liaise with relevant stakeholders (HR Directors) to set performance targets for Production
QC and Research teams and individuals and conduct performance reviews to track progress
and address development needs.
Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards conducting regular safety training for all
staff.
