A leading Manufacturing industry is looking for GST Accountant who is responsible for managing and ensuring compliance with Goods and Services Tax (GST) laws for the company. The role involves preparing and filing GST returns maintaining accurate tax records and assisting in internal audits related to GST. This position also requires staying updated on changes in tax laws and providing support to the finance team in optimizing GST processes.
Key Responsibilities:
GST Return Filing:
- Prepare and file monthly quarterly and annual GST returns (e.g. GSTR1 GSTR3B GSTR9) in compliance with statutory deadlines.
- Ensure that all relevant data is accurately captured and reported in GST returns.
GST Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure timely and accurate GST compliance with respect to tax payments invoices and GSTrelated documentation.
- Maintain detailed records of GST transactions including tax invoices purchase records and returns.
- Reconcile GST data between financial statements and GST returns to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Input Tax Credit (ITC) Management:
- Monitor and track Input Tax Credit (ITC) to ensure its proper utilization and compliance.
- Reconcile input tax credits with supplier invoices and ensure credits are availed only on eligible transactions.
GST Payments and Refunds:
- Ensure timely payment of GST liabilities to avoid penalties or interest.
- Assist in filing GST refund claims and ensure that all supporting documents are provided for smooth processing.
GST Audits and Internal Reviews:
- Assist in internal audits and external GST audits by providing necessary documentation and records.
- Ensure all GSTrelated documents are organized and accessible for review by auditors or tax authorities.
GST Accounting:
- Record and account for GST transactions in the company s accounting system.
- Ensure accurate allocation of GST on sales and purchases in the general ledger.
- Prepare journal entries for GSTrelated transactions.
GST Reporting:
- Prepare monthly or quarterly GST reports for management review.
- Analyze GSTrelated financial data and prepare reports on tax liabilities input credits and refunds.
GST Advisory and Support:
- Provide support and guidance to the finance and accounting teams on GSTrelated matters.
- Stay updated on changes in GST laws rules and regulations and communicate the impact to the team.
- Assist in identifying and addressing potential tax issues or areas for improvement in GST processes.
Coordination with Tax Authorities:
- Act as a liaison with tax authorities for any GSTrelated queries assessments or notices.
- Resolve any discrepancies disputes or issues raised by the tax department.

Requirements: Educational Qualifications: Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field. Additional certifications in GST, Taxation, or similar (e.g., CA, CS, or GST certification) will be an advantage. Experience: 5+ years of experience in GST accounting or taxation, preferably within a corporate or public accounting environment. Hands-on experience with GST return filings, input tax credit reconciliation, and GST compliance. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of GST laws, regulations, and compliance processes. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, SAP) and GST-related software. Familiarity with tax filing portals such as the GSTN portal for filing returns and refunds. Good understanding of financial statements and accounting principles. Personal Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining tax records. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines. Effective communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external auditors/tax authorities.
