Job Description
Mental Health Technician IV (MH Tech IV) is responsible for assisting and supporting patients through the entire treatment experience from admission through discharge. MH Tech IV responsibilities primarily include ensuring patient safety providing milieu interventions leading psychoeducational groups and supporting patients as they navigate the treatment process. As the Tech team is available to the patient on a twentyfourhour basis careful patient monitoring and communication with the treatment team is essential. The Tech IV is in a leadership and training role and should provide experience and guidance to all coworkers.
Responsibilities
- Orients new patient to the treatment program its requirements intent and routine. Completes needed assessments within 24 hours of admission.
- Trains new employees and ensures their proficiency with the duties of an MHT.
- Determines whether the new patient has any special needs communicates those needs to the treatment team and assists the patient in fulfilling those needs.
- Monitors all patients through the treatment experience keeping patients in line of site in the milieu and checking on patients in bedrooms or other areas on a regular basis.
- Supports coworkers in creating a positive environment being a role model and working as a team. May serve as the Lead during shifts as designated by Facility management.
- Contributes to the wellbeing of all patients by serving as a positive role model demonstrating professional and caring manner toward coworkers patients and guests. Treat all patients guests and coworkers respectfully and courteously. Effectively and professionally communicates with families/loved ones as appropriate.
- Facilitates treatment plan interventions as set forth by the Therapist by providing daytoday support to patients and if patients need to checkin help patients engage in a positive coping skill. Directs patients in a clear concise and informative manner.
- Ensures the structure of the facility by following the facility rules and group schedule and guiding other MHTs each shift.
- Responsible for running and engaging patients in therapeutic groups such as coping skills relapse prevention psycho education Life Skills etc. for the expected length of time identified in the Program Schedule. Assists in providing group ideas.
- As MHTs are the eyes and ears of the milieu they are responsible for documenting any behaviors that occur in the milieu in a very thorough and appropriate manner. Must maintain confidential nature of all patient and program related activities.
- Will work during meal periods to help model good behaviors to patients redirect eating disorder behaviors and to meet regulatory and approved program standards as allowed by applicable state wage and hour laws. The meals will be provided by the employer at no charge to the employee and the time will be treated as hours worked. Staff are required to eat their meals with the patients during mealtimes.
- Maintains a clean environment by completing the cleaning required on the shift worked and documenting the cleaning online in Origami.
This is a fulltime position with the following available shifts:
- ThursMon AM/PM interchangeably as needed
- TuesSat PM
- SunMon PM

Qualifications :
- Masters Degree OR
- Bachelors degree with 2 years of experience working in MH OR
- 3 years experience working at DBH specifically
- Must attend all training education and staff enrichment activities
- Must possess a current Drivers License in good standing and keep a DL in good standing for continued employment.
