The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the ongoing repair and general maintenance of all equipment in the Central Facility. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees customers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.
Major Responsibilities:
- Install maintain test troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment within the plant to ensure the ongoing and reliable operation of plant equipment and systems.
- Assess report on promote and carry out process improvement initiatives specifically with regard to machine and/or system reliability and improved performance.
- Assist with the evaluation planning and execution of job plans and preventative maintenance programs.
- Maintain the preventive maintenance program carry out maintenance activities and replacement or repair of defective parts components or system performance testing.
- Update maintenance and parts records using a computerized maintenance management system.
- Evaluate condition of instrumentation devices in operation by checking calibration listening to their sounds verifying pressures temperatures etc. and examine parts for imperfections.
- Maintain all systems files line diagrams work orders etc. for electrical and equipment installations and completed work as required.
- Adhere to and fully participate in the companys Health & Safety Environmental and Management system and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Help identify and champion ongoing process improvements for the production facility.
- Direct and lead contractors during plant shutdowns and perform emergency response as required.
- May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
Qualifications :
- Typically requires completion of a postsecondary program in a similar field and 10 plus years of experience in equipment and building R&M; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Millwright license and CMMS experience would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of repair & maintenance processes equipment and materials and ability to communicate with equipment operators and contractors and draft various reports and/or correspondence.
- Strong computer skills and ability to interpret mechanical and civil drawings/sketches.
- Strong time management organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision.
- Requires flexible availability for hours and days of work with the ability to travel.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid would be an asset.
- Position requires successful completion of a criminal background check.
Work & Sensory Environment:
- Occasional requirement to wear cumbersome protective clothing or equipment
- Possible exposure to dangerous or unpleasant environmental elements such as dirt or dust extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions for driving and/or for outdoor work.
- Will be required to lift carry and/or handle heavy objects climb ladders and use maintenance tools and equipment.
