Role purpose:

As a Financial Crime Analyst the successful candidate will be a key control to protect against money laundering terrorist financing and fraud. Analysing and investigating alerts relating to private and corporate customer activity and assisting the team with KYC corporate refreshes. This is a 6 month FTC.

What youll be doing day to day:

  • Monitoring the transaction monitoring systems and queues for alerts on a regular basis throughout the working day ensuring team leaders are aware of outstanding alerts at the end of each day.
  • Conducting Enhanced Due Diligence on clients and transactions.
  • Reviewing customer activity on a periodic and eventdriven basis.
  • Where there are grounds for suspicion escalating concerns through filing internal SAR reports.
  • Engaging with relevant stakeholders including frontoffice relationship managers.
  • Creating and maintaining accurate and concise records of all investigations undertaken including details on the rationale for any decisions made.
  • Providing advice and support to the wider business on the identification of areas of risk or new trends/typologies because of transaction monitoring activities.
  • Perform CDD/EDD on both new and existing engagements (ongoing due diligence) for our Corporate book
  • Retrospective file reviews in order to refresh client engagements
  • Screening Sanctions PEPs and Adverse Media
  • Review of queries and requests for information from Banks escalating suspicions where applicable.
  • Remaining abreast of UK legislation and regulatory change

Qualification and skills

2 years in CDD/EDD of Corporate structures (including but not limited to Trusts Funds & Charities) within a FCA or EU regulated financial services/payments business

2 years performing transaction monitoring within a regulated financial institution

Practical knowledge of JMLSG the Money Laundering Regulations and Sanctions

Knowledge of Comply Advantage or other transaction monitoring systems advantageous but not essential

Strong grasp of complex engagements and ownership structures

Relevant Professional qualification desirable e.g. ICA ACAMs

Analytical problemsolver with a passion for lateral thinking

An excellent communicator and ability to multitask within a fastpaced environment

Remains calm under pressure with the ability to prioritise and manage upwards

Robust communication organisation and time management skills
