Organizational Overview
Centra Health (Centra) is a regional nonprofit healthcare system based in burg Virginia. With more than 7500 employees 550 employed providers and physicians and a medical staff of nearly 1100 providing care in 50 locations Centra serves over 500000 people as the dominant provider of critical medical services in central and southern Virginia. Over the last three years the system’s net revenue grew from $1.2 billion in 2020 to $1.3 billion in 2023.

Centra was created in 1987 through the merger of burg General (LGH) and Virginia Baptist (VBH) Hospitals. In 2006 Southside Community Hospital (CSCH) in Farmville became a Centra affiliate. In 2014 Centra acquired full ownership of Bedford Memorial Hospital (BMH) in the town of Bedford which is its fourth hospital. In addition to these flagship facilities the system includes Centra Specialty Hospital a longterm acute care hospital a regional standalone emergency department health and rehabilitation centers a cancer center a nursing school and sites and providers serving a geography of approximately 9000 square miles. Centra’ services also include residential and outpatient mental health facilities home health and hospice programs mammography centers a sleep disorders center and a center for wound care and hyperbaric medicine. Centra is home to the Central Virginia Center for Simulation and Virtual Learning the only center in Virginia that offers a full range of simulation experiences. In October 2024 Centra welcomed Richard Tugman to the role of president and Chief Executive Officer.

Centra Medical Group (CMG) is a network of local family practices primary care providers and medical and surgical specialists. With almost 600 employed providers specialists and surgeons covering the greater burg area and spanning from Danville to Farmville Moneta and Bedford CMG provides the community with primary care providers cardiologists cardiothoracic surgeons gerontologists neurosurgeons physiatrists psychiatrists therapists and urologists. CMGburg Family Medicine Residency is a training ground for future Family Physicians. Many of the physicians at the side hold academic appointments with the University of Virginia Virginia Commonwealth University Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine or Liberty University.

Centra Medical Group is launching the health systems first clinical advancement program for CMG Advanced Practice Providers – LEAPP (Leadership Excellence Advocacy Professional Growth and Professionalism). This program is a twotier selfdirected pathway that allows our providers to choose how they how they wish to advance along the pathway. The goal of LEAPP is to provide APP’s within the medical group with a structured pathway for advancement while allowing them to focus on their interest with an associated financial incentive for completing the program. This is an exciting step for our medical group and our Advanced Practice Providers and we look forward to sharing more with you.

About the Practice
The CMG Neurosciences division has grown significantly in the past several years to include specialized Epilepsy services complete with epilepsy monitoring unit neurodiagnostic and research stroke and neurovascular services and development of a comprehensive headache center with plans for expansion to treating concussions. CMG Neurosciences has also developed a movement disorders program and a dedicated MS Clinic to address these patients' specific needs. This will include the development of a robust DBS program including surgical options and medical management of DBS devices. The department has 3 full time neurosurgeons trained in spine complex spine and vascular neurosurgery. Within the neurovascular services the team offers a full range of clinical capability from endovascular procedures to open cerebrovascular procedures addressing AVMs aneurysms and tumors. Finally the department has begun to dedicate resources to the development of research within the Neurosciences department; these efforts will continue to expand with the addition of the MS clinic and the Movement Disorders program.

We are looking for an APP to join our Neurointerventional Radiology team.

• Neuro step down unit

About the Role

• Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm

• Tuesdays and Thursdays Inpatient

• Monday Wednesday Friday Outpatient

• Rounding on post op patients Tuesday and Thursdays

• Follow ups in clinic Monday Wednesday Fridays
