JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for establishing coordinating and maintaining pharmacy inventory control systems that support cost containment adequate stock levels and accurate accounting records for the procurement of quality pharmaceutical products. Oversees inventory automation system operations including but not limited to implementation training and minor maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Coordinates and places orders for pharmaceuticals from our prime vendor and direct accounts; maintains par levels; obtains nonstock products for affiliated offsite facilities.
- Coordinates the ordering and dispensing of I.V. admixture supplies via Materials Management and the filling of Stores Requisitions.
- Tracks and reconciles stockouts shortages and back orders; communicates status to appropriate personnel; and purchases alternative stock to prevent stockouts.
- Monitors pharmaceutical contract compliance and contract changeovers; maintains shelf labels; reviews invoices for inventory control; updates computer database for current charges.
- Coordinates and completes yearend inventory schedule; calculates inventory adjustments.
- Coordinates and maintains recalls of pharmacy products.
- Coordinates the processing of returns to wholesalers manufacturers and return goods company; tracks credits; calculates inventory value variance.
- Keeps file on Controlled Substance Records uptodate; keeps track of reports received daily.
- Maintains automated dispensed cabinets (ADCs)daily through monitoring and minor maintenance.
- Oversees ADC projects such as installing new machines implementing new Pyxis processes and procedures reconfiguring drawers etc.
- Coordinates staff access to ADC.
- Coordinates ADC updates with nursing staff and facilitates training.
- Assists manager and director in developing and implementing new policies and procedures in regard to inventory management products.
- Assists the manager and director in maintenance of ADC records related to inventory including controlled substances.
- Assists in the training of new pharmacy and nursing staff in the use of Pyxis.
- Assist the director manager or lead pharmacist in the development and implementation of objectives/projects for the Pharmacy Department.
- Completes other duties/responsibilities as delegated

- Maintains work areas in a neat and orderly manner; practices departmental infection control policy and procedures applicable to work area.
- Strives to achieve excellence of service as described in the CARE Manual.
- Responds to the following Shore Health System Codes: Code Red (in the immediate area) Code Pink (when called) Code D (when called).

- Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information. Uses and discloses only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
MINIMUM EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
- Minimum of three years of Pharmacy/I.V. Technician or related experience including experience with inventory control and Pyxis systems.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and to accurately transpose figures and perform mathematical calculations.
- Must be a certified pharmacy technician registered with the State of Maryland or a pharmacy technician registered with the State of Maryland.
