Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

AS a Cashier at Hamad M Al Rugaib , you will be the first and last point of contact for our customers, creating a positive and memorable shopping experience. You will be responsible for processing customer transactions accurately and efficiently while providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:
Greet customers promptly and courteously.
Assist customers with questions about products, prices, and store policies.
Process customer payments accurately and efficiently using various payment methods (cash, credit cards, debit cards).
Issue receipts and handle returns or exchanges.
Resolve customer complaints or issues in a professional and timely manner.
Cash Handling:
Operate the cash register and balance the drawer at the end of each shift.
Follow all cash handling procedures to prevent theft and errors.
Complete daily deposits.
Handling Transactions
Process payments: Scan items, enter prices, and calculate totals for customers' purchases using a point-of-sale (POS) system.
Accept various payment methods: Handle cash, credit cards, debit cards, checks, mobile payments, and gift cards accurately and securely.
Issue receipts: Provide customers with receipts for their purchases and ensure that the correct amount is collected.
Give correct change: Return accurate change when payments are made with cash and ensure the right amount is given back to the customer.
Process returns and exchanges: Handle customer returns, exchanges, or refunds according to the store's policies, ensuring proper documentation is provided.
Check for discrepancies: Ensure that the amount tendered by the customer matches the sale amount, detecting and correcting any discrepancies.
Customer Service
Greet customers: Provide a friendly and welcoming environment by greeting customers as they approach the register.
Assist with inquiries: Help customers with questions about products, store policies, promotions, and store locations.
Resolve complaints: Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally, and escalate issues to management if necessary.
Provide a positive experience: Ensure customers leave with a positive impression of the store by being courteous, helpful, and efficient.

Maintaining Checkout Area
Keep register area tidy: Ensure that the cashier station is clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies, such as bags, receipts, and promotional materials.
Stock supplies: Replenish receipt paper, bags, and any other materials used at the checkout station.
Verify product pricing: Confirm that product pricing is accurate and that any promotions or discounts are applied properly.
Ensure security: Monitor the checkout area for potential security risks, including theft or fraud, and adhere to company policies to prevent loss.
Processing Special Transactions
Apply discounts or promotions: Ensure that any store-wide discounts, coupons, or loyalty points are applied correctly to customer purchases.
Gift card transactions: Process gift card sales, balance inquiries, and redemption accurately.
Loyalty program enrollment: Enroll customers in loyalty or rewards programs, providing them with membership cards and explaining the program benefits.
Gift wrapping: Offer and assist customers with gift wrapping, if applicable.
. Handling Cash and Balancing Cash Drawer
Manage cash drawer: Maintain accurate cash handling, ensuring that the drawer is balanced at the beginning and end of each shift.
Count cash: Regularly count the contents of the cash drawer to ensure there are no discrepancies.
Prepare cash deposits: Depending on the store, prepare daily deposits, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
Record voids and refunds: Accurately record any voided transactions or refunds, ensuring they are documented correctly in the system.
