Job Description
1. CNC Machined Components Development:
Lead the development of CNC machined components ensuring that designs and processes are optimized for efficient manufacturing.
Collaborate with the design and engineering teams to convert product concepts into practical machining solutions.
Develop and optimize machining processes for complex components considering material types machining constraints and product requirements.
2. Advanced CNC Software Expertise:
Utilize advanced CAM software such as MasterCAM HyperMill and others to generate optimized CNC toolpaths for complex geometries.
Lead the development of CNC programs ensuring the most efficient and costeffective strategies are used to minimize cycle times and maximize machine efficiency.
Stay updated on new software developments trends and best practices in CNC programming ensuring the teams capabilities are at the forefront of technology.
3. Cutting Tool Knowledge and Market Expertise:
Possess indepth knowledge of the cutting tool market including various tool materials geometries and applications to select the most appropriate tools for different machining tasks.
Analyze tooling performance recommend changes to improve tool life and reduce cycle times.
Collaborate with suppliers to source and evaluate cutting tools and materials for CNC machining operations.
4. Fixture Manufacturing and Process Development:
Oversee the design and manufacturing of fixtures to ensure proper clamping and alignment of components during machining.
Work with the engineering team to ensure fixtures are optimized for efficient production reducing setup times and improving cycle time.
Establish detailed process sequences for the machining of each component ensuring accuracy efficiency and quality at every step of the process.
5. Cycle Time Estimation and Optimization:
Estimate and validate cycle times for new components and machining processes working closely with the operations and production teams to ensure accurate forecasting of machining times.
Continuously evaluate current processes to identify opportunities for cycle time reduction without sacrificing quality.
Implement strategies for optimizing machine loads minimizing idle time and improving overall production efficiency.
6. Request for Quotation (RFQ) Management:
Raise and manage RFQs for tooling fixtures and other critical components required in the machining process.
Collaborate with the purchasing and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of required materials and tools.
Evaluate quotations from suppliers ensuring that cost estimates are aligned with project budgets and timelines.
7. Crossfunctional Collaboration:
Collaborate with product design quality and production teams to ensure seamless integration of development processes with production requirements.
Provide technical support to production teams during the transition of new designs from development to manufacturing.
Work with the engineering team to resolve any design or machining challenges during the development phase.
8. Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the development team seeking out new technologies and methodologies that improve machining efficiency reduce costs and enhance product quality.
