Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detailoriented Carpenter to join our team in Gaborone Botswana. As a key member of our construction and maintenance crew you will be responsible for creating installing and repairing wooden structures and fixtures in various projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
- Select appropriate materials and measure cut and shape wood plastic and other materials to meet project specifications
- Construct and install building frameworks including walls floors and doorframes
- Design and build custom furniture cabinetry and other wooden fixtures
- Install prefabricated units such as windows doors and staircases
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other wooden structures
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment adhering to all safety regulations and procedures
- Collaborate with other construction professionals to ensure project goals are met efficiently
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients and addressing their needs
- Maintain and care for carpentry tools and equipment
- Assist in training junior carpenters and apprentices as needed
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or technical institute certification in carpentry preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a carpenter in residential or commercial settings
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
- Extensive knowledge of various wood types their properties and appropriate applications
- Skilled in using hand tools and power tools specific to carpentry
- Strong understanding of building codes safety regulations and industry best practices
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring lifting climbing and prolonged standing
- Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel to various job sites
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines
- Commitment to ongoing learning and staying updated with new techniques and materials in the field
