As the Global Director Head of Health and Safety at TOMRA Food you will champion health and safety across all regions ensuring alignment with TOMRA Group Safety Standards. Guided by TOMRAs core values you will lead strategic frameworks drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of safety that empowers employees and enhances organisational resilience.
In this key leadership role you will collaborate with crossfunctional teams to cultivate a workplace where Safe People Safe Places and Safe Processes are central to operations. Reporting to the SVP Head of People & Organisation you will oversee a dedicated team of 3 direct reports while building a global network of health and safety champions.
Leading Self:
- Inspire manage and develop a global team fostering strong relationships with leaders partners and influencers.
- Coach and support the integration of health and safety management systems into the organisations risk management framework.
- Engage with the TOMRAs Safe teams to align health and safety strategies across divisions.
- Investigate incidents and near misses ensuring lessons are learned and corrective actions are implemented.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly health and safety progress reports identifying achievements and challenges.
Leading the Function:
- Oversee global health and safety management systems to identify and mitigate risks consistently across regions.
- Standardise health safety and environmental protocols across all sites and regions ensuring uniformity and effectiveness.
- Establish effective communication processes using tools such as SharePoint internal management systems and lessons learnt.
- Manage health and safety consultants in new and smaller locations ensuring these sites have tools processes and training to build a strong safety culture.
Driving Impact:
- Enhance and maintain systems to identify and manage health and safety risks.
- Guide leadership in conducting risk assessments and due diligence.
- Build a robust network of safety champions across regions and sites focusing on expanding safety initiatives into smaller entities.
Leading a High Performing Team:
- Provide transparent and supportive leadership to the HSE team fostering motivation and engagement..
- Set clear expectations deliver constructive feedback and celebrate achievements.
- Lead by example promoting compliance and best practices across the organisation.
Driving Organisational Change:
- Partner with the People & Organisation team to develop annual plans focused on enhancing safety practices and employee experiences.
- Coordinate the development of health and safety objectives for regions and business units.
- Actively participate in leadership meetings contributing to organisational change initiatives.
- Foster a culture of adaptability ensuring compliance with evolving regulations and industry standards.
Qualifications :
About You:
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety Engineering or related field; advanced degree (MBA or Masters) preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in health and safety management preferably in manufacturing with proven leadership success.
- Expertise in leading HSE across at least two major regions (APAC EMEA Americas).
- Exceptional influencing skills to align teams with safety goals and processes.
- Experience in applying operational excellence processes in a multisite or similarly complex organisation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of global workplace health and safety culture regulations and risk management.
- Proficiency in international health and safety standards.
- Proven ability to build and lead a dispersed national and global team.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
- Willingness to travel across Europe and internationally as required with travel commitments of up to 30%.
