Bantrel has an exciting opportunity for a Chemical Engineering student to support our Energy Project team this summer. Reporting to the Process Engineering Discipline Chief Engineer you will support various Energy related projects from our Edmonton office. The position will be starting in May 2025 for an eight (8) month term.

Duties & Responsibilities (may include and are not limited to):
- Works under the guidance of a Process Engineer which involves the preparation interpretation or review of drawings specifications plans systems and/or equipment with some degree of complexity.
- Participates in (any) of the following activities:
- Process design which may include flowsheet simulations concept sketches and layouts;
- Use of engineering computer programs and solutions to perform design calculations;
- Preparation of process engineering drawings specifications datasheets
- Equipment design and development; and
- Collaboration with Piping and Plant Layout Mechanical Civil Control Systems and Electrical engineering disciplines.
- Become knowledgeable with the engineering design process and practical applications regional codes and standards various engineering design tools and applications and the Bantrel quality procedures.
- Assist senior engineers and designers with their responsibilities including creating and checking engineering deliverables attending design reviews and quality reviews.
Competencies (knowledge skill attributes):
- Completed University undergraduate courses in fluid dynamics/mechanics (fluid flow through piping) and thermodynamics (basic heat transfer) before the start of the work term.
- Understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to the energy industry.
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of process flowsheet simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS AVEVA ProII or Honeywell Unisim is considered an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (SharePoint Word Excel PowerPoint etc.) and PDF markup and drawing software such as MS Visio or Bluebeam Revu will be an asset.
Qualifications :
- Must be enrolled in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering program at an accredited university in Canada and have completed 3 years of study by the end of April 2025.
- Excel academically while being actively involved in extracurricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community.
- Previous related work experience will be considered an asset.
