Patient Care and Documentation:
- Collect and accurately document patient information in medical charts.
- Ensure patient records medication and immunization data are current.
- Recognize and act promptly on signs or symptoms requiring intervention.
Clinical Support:
- Prepare and assist patients with procedures treatments and minor surgeries.
- Perform specimen collection and Point of Care Testing (POCT).
- Administer immunizations and injections as prescribed by providers.
- Set up and manage equipment for exams and minor procedures.
Team Collaboration and Workflow Management:
- Facilitate clinic flow and assist in crosscoverage within the department.
- Provide timely reporting on patient conditions or safety concerns.
Emergency Response and Protocol Compliance:
- Perform basic life support (BLS) when certified.
- Follow protocols for patient safety including the care of children elderly or impaired individuals.
Administrative and Miscellaneous Duties:
- Attend and apply learnings from staff meetings.
- Assist clinic nurses and providers as needed.
- Participate in clinic goalsetting and adhere to organizational guidelines.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED (required).
Certifications (One of the following required):
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- EMT III (Current Alaska Certification)
- Paramedic Certification (Current Alaska Certification)
- Nursing Degree from an accredited institution
Additional Certifications:
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
Experience:
- Previous healthcare setting experience preferred.
- Proficient in medical terminology and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Effective communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate medical equipment (e.g. BP cuff pulse oximeter EKG machine).
- Competency in lifesaving procedures and emergency response.
Work Schedule:
- Fulltime day shifts.
