Job Description

Objective:

The personnel is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial and operational performance of the company. The Deputy General Manager ensures accurate financial reporting adherence to industryspecific standards and alignment of financial objectives with the companys longterm goals in the energy sector. This includes overseeing financial reporting budgeting risk management and implementing internal controls while supporting the companys growth and profitability in a dynamic and highly regulated industry.

Main responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Oversee the timely preparation and presentation of financial statements including companyspecific balance sheets income statements and cash flow reports.
  • Monitor energy cost structures pricing models and performance indicators ensuring financial integrity in the reporting of energy production distribution and sales activities.
  • Provide financial analysis to senior management focusing on energy price trends market fluctuations and regulatory impacts.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to assess the financial performance of energy projects investments and assets.

2. Preparation of Budgets and Forecasts:

  • Lead the budgeting process for energy projects operational costs and capital expenditures ensuring alignment with corporate strategies and industry constraints.
  • Develop and implement financial forecasts based on market conditions raw material prices and energy demand projections.
  • Review and monitor the operational budgets of energy generation and distribution facilities ensuring efficient use of resources and capital.

3. Regulatory Compliance and Internal Controls:

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations specific to the energy sector including those related to energy marketing tax regulations and environmental compliance.
  • Develop and enforce robust internal control systems to mitigate financial risks associated with energy market volatility supply chain challenges and changes in applicable texts.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and authorities in the DRC to ensure compliance with sectorspecific accounting standards (local regulations) and financial reporting.

4. Risk Management:

  • Identify assess and manage financial risks in the energy sector such as fluctuating commodity prices currency risks supply chain disruptions and regulatory changes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate financial risks including hedging strategies against energy price volatility and longterm supply contracts.
  • Monitor energy market trends environmental policies and geopolitical factors to assess their impact on the companys financial health.

5. Financial Management of Energy Projects:

  • Manage the financial aspects of largescale energy projects including capital budgeting financial arrangements and return on investment (ROI) analysis.
  • Collaborate with management to monitor the financial performance of energy development and infrastructure projects such as power plants renewable energy facilities or distribution networks.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis throughout the project lifecycle from planning to execution and decommissioning.

6. Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and coach the team promoting their professional development and ensuring compliance with best practices in financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as operations legal and procurement to ensure to meetg the business objectives & regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely delivery of business reports and ensure the smooth functioning of the company.

7. Strategic Planning and Business Development:

  • Provide financial perspectives for longterm strategic planning including market investment opportunities diversification into renewable energy and expansion into new geographies.
  • Work closely with senior management on mergers acquisitions joint ventures and other business development initiatives.
  • Analyze and propose opportunities to improve profitability through costsaving measures innovative financing options and investments in efficient energy technologies.

Public Relations:

  • Develop and execute effective public relations strategies to enhance the companys brand image.
  • Manage media relations including press releases media inquiries and interviews.
  • Coordinate and organize events conferences and promotional activities.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and prepare reports for senior management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting Finance Economics or similar field. A professional accounting qualification is an asset.
  • Indepth knowledge of finance in the energy sector including energy pricing models market dynamics and the regulatory framework.
  • Experience or knowledge of Africa is an asset.
  • Expertise in industryspecific financial reporting standards.
  • Good understanding of the energy sector supply chain procurement and financial management.
  • Fluency in French and English with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Management skills with experience in team management.
  • Excellent analytical problemsolving and decisionmaking skills.
