Job Description
The job is accountable for design delivery and technical performance of the grid connections across technologies.
Applicable technologies are synchronous compensators wind farms solar farms and battery storage plants.
In support of this accountability the job incorporates:
- Technical decision making through all stages described in the Statkraft Capital Project Model (CPM)
- Selection of equipment ratings based on plant and grid characteristics Grid Code requirements and applicable statutes regulations and international standards
- Single line diagrams and general arrangements of grid connections in support of applications including switchgear and plant layouts cable routes site access etc.
- Liaison with civil protection telecommunication metering and control engineering colleagues
- Substation cost estimation including maintenance of database of cost components
- Generating technical specifications and evaluating technical compliance of submissions from contractors and bidders
- Shortcircuit current calculations review/approval
- Contractor design document review/approval
- Quality surveillance and test witnessing in supplier factories and onsite
The job requires multiskilled pragmatic engineering knowledge with an ability to manage own workload and provide ad hoc support to colleagues who may be overloaded.
- Engineering and construction experience in electricity transmission and distribution experience of at least 5 years.
- Work experience in substation engineering for either network owners or consultants.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Structured thinker with good analysis and synthesis skills and rigorous recordkeeping.
- Organisational interaction ability in both facetoface and remoteworking situations
Qualifications :
- University degree in engineering
- Registerable or registered as CEng or international equivalent.
- Additional qualifications that will be an advantage are:
- National Grid TP141 certification
- Masters degree or Doctorate in engineering
- Drivers licence passport and willingness to work on site in UK and Ireland.
- Computer literacy with demonstrable capability to use full Microsoft Office suit AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
