Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations within the company. This includes managing accounting functions, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The role involves developing financial strategies, conducting risk assessments, and providing insights to support business decisions. Additionally, the Financial Controller supervises the finance team, coordinates budgeting and forecasting processes, and maintains internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Responsibilities:

    inancial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, monthly/quarterly reports, and year-end financials.

    udgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process and work with departments to forecast revenues, costs, and capital expenditures. Monitor financial performance against budget and provide strategic analysis to management.

  • I

    nternal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets. Ensure that the organization adheres to company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • C

    ash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow planning and ensure the organization has the necessary liquidity to meet its obligations. Monitor and report on cash flow trends and optimize the use of working capital.

    eam Leadership: Supervise the accounting team, ensuring accurate accounting practices and efficiency in operations. Provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations for team members.

  • A

    udit and Compliance: Coordinate and liaise with internal and external auditors for audit purposes. Ensure timely filing of financial statements and compliance with tax regulations.

    trategic Financial Planning: Support senior management in making informed financial decisions by providing insights into financial data, analyzing risks, and identifying opportunities for cost savings or revenue generation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's or CPA is a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in financial management or accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Desired candidate profile

  • Accounting Knowledge: A deep understanding of accounting principles, such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: The ability to prepare and analyze financial reports, identifying trends, variances, and performance metrics.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Strong skills in creating and managing budgets, as well as forecasting financial performance and cash flow.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in financial reporting, reconciliation, and ensuring the integrity of financial data.
  • Leadership Skills: The ability to manage and lead a team of financial professionals, fostering collaboration, productivity, and a positive work environment.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to address financial issues, discrepancies, or inefficiencies and find solutions.
  • Risk Management: The ability to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks to protect the organization’s financial health.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Staying updated on tax laws, industry regulations, and financial compliance requirements.
  • Time Management: Ability to meet tight deadlines, especially during month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders and make recommendations for improvement.
