Job Description
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assisting the Captain with navigation safety and security procedures
Managing and supervising the deck crew including assigning duties and providing training
Maintaining and inspecting all safety equipment and ensuring compliance with safety regulations
Monitoring weather and sea conditions and making necessary adjustments to the ships course
Coordinating with other departments such as engineering and catering to ensure smooth operations
Maintaining accurate records and logs of the ships activities
Conducting safety drills and training for crew members
Assisting with the loading and unloading of cargo and ensuring proper stowage
Communicating effectively with the Captain crew members and shore personnel
Requirements:
Valid STCW certification
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a 1st Officer or similar role
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Strong knowledge of navigation safety and security procedures
Ability to work well under pressure and in a fastpaced environment
Flexibility to work long hours and be on call as needed
Physically fit and able to perform duties on deck in various weather conditions
Must be able to pass a preemployment drug test and background check
