Job Description
Machine operator also known as a production operator or
machinist operates machinery to produce goods or parts. They are
responsible for setting up operating and maintaining the machinery.
Responsibilities
Set up machinery: Prepare machines for production by calibrating
cleaning and following standard operating procedures
Operate machinery: Feed materials into the machine monitor the
production process and control the equipment
Maintain machinery: Perform routine maintenance tasks like cleaning
lubricating and troubleshooting
Monitor production: Check gages inspect output and address any
issues
Troubleshoot: Identify and fix issues that might occur during the shift
Create records: Keep records of approved and defective units or final
products
Train others: Oversee the training of new or junior machine operators
Adhere to safety regulations: Follow health and safety regulations and
verify the functionality of safety features
