Job Overview
Our Graduate Summer Internship Program is designed for driven individuals seeking to deepen their expertise tackle meaningful projects and gain invaluable professional exposure within the dynamic world of genetics.
Throughout the program you’ll work on impactful resumelevel projects that align with your skills and career goals providing you with handson experience that translates directly into future opportunities. Under the guidance of experienced mentors you’ll explore realworld applications of advanced concepts gaining insights and knowledge that will set you apart in your field. Some of the projects that you will lead/participate in during your internship that will enable you to have this experience include:
- Be actively involved in advancing research and development of bioinformatics solutions for nextgeneration sequencing (NGS) data.
- Obtain handson experience in analyzing complex biological datasets as well as designing developing and optimizing bioinformatics algorithms and workflows. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of bioinformaticians software engineers and wet lab scientists you will gain valuable insights into cuttingedge genomics research and the development of innovative data analysis pipelines.
- A proofofconcept study focused on longread whole transcriptome sequencing (LRWTS) and wholegenome sequencing (LRWGS) and refining data analysis methods for research applications.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
II. EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE:
Must be enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited university pursuing a degree in Bioinformatics Computational Biology or a related field
III. TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Skill Abilities and Capabilities):
- Advanced proficiency in verbal and written communication.
- Proven experience in crossfunctional and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting objectives.
- Exceptional problemsolving skills with a focus on critical thinking and innovation.
IV. EXPERIENCE (These are not all required but are considered a plus if you have them):
- Experience with short and longread NGS data and their associated analysis workflows.
- Handson experience developing computational algorithms for biological data processing and analysis.
- High level understanding of the molecular biology behind NGS.
- Proficient with programming languages (Python & R) in a distributed Linux environment.
- Experience with modern data analysis techniques (e.g. Jupyter notebooks interactive charting) and using them in a reproducible fashion
- Familiarity with modern workflow engines (e.g. NextFlow).
- Experience with software engineering best practices (e.g. version control unit testing documentation)

Our salary ranges are determined by role level and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including jobrelated skills experience and relevant education or training.
