Job Description

Ingram Barge Company is seeking a Tank Barge Quality Assurance Manager to join our Barge Maintenance and Repair team in New Orleans LA. You will be managing our Tank Barge Readiness Program in the New Orleans/ Baton Rouge areas by managing thirdparty readiness inspection vendors and assure compliance to Ingram standards federal regulation and document recording. You will be working directly with inhouse and thirdparty repair vendors and maintaining a direct line of communication with the liquid logistics team.  performing hands on tank barge readiness checks that is currently being done by third party vendors. This is a role for those with a focus on customer service and do not mind getting their hands dirty in the process!

What you will be doing:

  • Working safely and by the Ingram Way.
  • Scheduling & distributing tank barge readiness inspections to third party vendors across the gulf region.
  • Conducting documenting and maintaining operational and post inspection audits of thirdparty readiness inspection vendors.
  • Conducting and performing tank barge readiness inspections.
  • Collecting maintaining and documenting readiness check inspections and audits
  • Coordinating and performing topside repairs as identified during readiness inspections with third party vendors
  • Tracking repair cost estimates invoices and processing them through the Ingram P.O. system.
  • Assisting in expediting repairs in a timely manner ensuring quality of work while tracking cost.
  • Updating the respective customer service group of any changes in completion of repair schedule.
  • Filling in for Barge Inspectors as needed.
  • Assisting Barge Inspectors and M&R personnel as directed
  • Supporting department activities with regular and prompt attendance.
  • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with vendors and USCG.
  • Being able to make quick decisions based off learned knowledge and experience
  • Rotating in a ThursdayThursday oncall schedule with other Barge Inspectors for designated areas of coverage as needed
  • Responding to calls when inspection/response is needed to initiate the repair process during standard hours of operation after hours and weekends as directed.
  • Emergency response and preparation including overnight/ out of state travel

Qualifications :

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5 years of experience in the marine industry required
  • Competent computer skills and ability to navigate Microsoft office suite.
  • Selfmotivated.
  • Confined space training.
  • Knowledge of barges and the marine industry.
  • Ability to operate a single & twin outboard engine work boat a plus.
  • Ability to safely navigate in and along the inland rivers.
  • Background in welding and marine repair policies practices and techniques.
  • Customer service or maintenance and repair experience.
  • Experience driving with trailers a plus.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions confined spaces lift at least 50 lbs. climb work long hours and wear breathing apparatus.
  • Ability to travel as needed with short notice at times
  • Expenses for travel will be reimbursed but associate must be able to cover initial cost
