Job Description

The  Transplant Assistant  reflects the mission vision and values of NM adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program and complies with all relevant policies procedures guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

  • The Transplant Assistant is a nonRN member of the intake team that handles the evaluation of the organ recipient and donors.  The Transplant Assistant works under the direction of the RN Transplant Coordinator for all aspects of the job.  The Assistant facilitates the process of intake from the first contact up to transplant.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the RN Transplant Coordinator:

  • Schedules recipients/donor initial appointments special followup appointments and medical workups.
  • Enters test orders documents and retrieves test results for RN evaluation.
  • Coordinates scheduling with (but not limited to): physicians admitting PFS liaison lab department psychiatry and social work.
  • Assists in the arrangements of living related/nonrelated organ donation and transplantation as directed by the RN Transplant Coordinator.
  • Assembles packets of information for patients/ patients families to be used at meetings education sessions or individually both handed out or mailed.
  • Works with PFS liaison to obtain insurance information for all patients prior to or on the evaluation day.
  • Maintains contact with the organ and donor candidates in order to obtain updated medical information and reports.
  • Maintains and updates pretransplant medical records files documents dataentry into database.
  • Assists in the ordering of teaching supplies for the RN Transplant Coordinators.
  • Participates on committees and attends meetings as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with other Clinical Coordinators in order to assure that all responsibilities are covered when one Coordinator is absent.  The Assistants may rotate some tasks as appropriate and approved by the RN Transplant Coordinators.
  • Faxes or mails medical information to the case managers referring physicians and consulting physicians.
  • Works with assigned RN Transplant Coordinator to complete job specific tasks.
  • Setsup and checksin patients for group meetings.
  • Assists with collecting data information.

Qualifications :

Required:

  • 4 yrs. High school
  • Medical experience (e.g. unit secretary doctors office etc.)
