Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a talented and highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Technician for immediate employment in our Tampa FL office. This position will work within the Building & Places (BP) organization and will provide mechanical design in relation to Buildings Facilities and Site practices within BP.
AECOMs Buildings Places practice includes architecture interiors building engineering workplace strategy master planning urban planning civil engineering and landscape architecture. Our Tampa office includes all disciplines and regularly works across offices and the region.
Ideal candidates have a strong background and interest in vertical building development as well as the related Site development having the ability to be part of a collaborative project team be clientfocused and produce great works.
This role presents an opportunity for a candidate to excel in their career and develop expertise and contribute to growing our Mechanical Engineering BP team. The position will also provide for career growth opportunity in developing overall professional capabilities including learning to lead projects and teams client interface and relationships and developing internal network and knowledge. Responsibilities for this role include but may not be limited to the following:
- Under general direction prepares and modifies designs calculations sketches diagrams schematic drawings and working drawings.
- Works with clients as well as the internal and external project team to execute the project from concept to execution and completion.
- Able to partner with Manager to organize workload and work both collaboratively and independently on projectspecific design tasks.
- Performing quality control reviews of work developed by others.
- Providing technical input to studies and design assessments.
- Respond effectively to scope schedule budget in working with project managers and other senior level team members.
- Mentoring and providing guidance to junior level staff for specific technical design aspects and professional service.
- Provide direction to prescriptive and performancebased specifications.
- Participating in development of technical proposals.
- Work closely with other departments from the AECOM project team/office including civil building engineering architecture geotechnical traffic engineers Federal team landscape architects and surveyors to provide value and partner in project opportunities.
- Participating and supporting site field investigations and construction related activities.
- Attend and sometimes facilitate progress meetings and/or client review sessions.
- Compliance to Quality Assurance Procedures.
Qualifications :
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma plus 4 years of relevant demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Demonstrated experience working on building and facility design projects. Including mechanical HVAC and Plumbing.
- Experience preparing calculations and design documents (reports plans specifications)
- Experience using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Previous experience with industry software utilized for mechanical calculations including energy modeling with Trane Trace and IES.
- Demonstrated experience in roles/assignments supporting projects clients and teams.
- Valid US Drivers License required as a condition of employment must pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Due to the nature of the work US Citizenship is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology is preferred
- 8 years of experience in Mechanical HAVC and plumbing engineering and building development projects covering all aspects of building design survey design development construction documents construction administration with direct experience in design and permitting of projects.
- Experience with permitting projects with local AHJs and required jurisdictions related to specific projects.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and organizing tasks and teams for project schedule and deadlines.
- Experience working in large and/or complex projects/programs is beneficial including government civic and transportation is beneficial.
- Experience with construction phase services for projects (field reviews RFI and shop drawing/submittal reviews specifications asbuilts and record drawings etc.)
