Job Description
Turner & Townsends Digital and consultancy business unit are looking for a suitable candidate to join their team with a particular focus in (but not limited to) the Rail sector. The team offers a wide range of commissions covering the UK. Candidates would be expected to travel up to 23 days per week supporting the delivery of the commissions.

- The successful candidate will provide business analysis expertise in particular but not limited to Rail sector commissions. Additionally they will support the development of our business analysis service offering providing best practice knowledge and guidance to junior colleagues and the wider business. Furthermore they will support the development of new commercial service opportunities.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills with an ability to adapt to and embed into different client environments. This includes identification and communication with key stakeholders and liaison between business departments and groups.
- Candidates will be expected to engage with clients and be comfortable in leading workshops assess options for process improvement including process modelling and familiarity with the requirements management lifecycle to enable successful delivery of technical solutions.
- Experience of working in Agile and/or Waterfall project development teams is required.
- Experience of public sector digital transformation is desirable including the ability to gather review and analyse business and/or industry data including KPIs financial reports and other key metrics using data analytics tools.
- An understanding of technical solution capabilities including use of the following platforms is desired: Power BI SQL Power Platform SharePoint and MS Projects. The candidate should be comfortable working alongside technical developer teams with an ability to elicit and translate technical requirements from nontechnical stakeholders to a team of data specialists.
Previous experience in the Rail sector is highly desirable.
SCOPE
Consultants will work within our Digitalconsulting team. They may also operate within wider Turner & Townsend project teams from other business units. In addition they will need to interact with clients and other project stakeholders. They will support a wide range of projects of all sizes and dimensions. From time to time this may include working with consultants from different agencies.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assisting the team of Analysts & Consultants on a range of tasks to include:
- Advise clients on best practice Business Analysis methodologies
- Documenting analysing and agreeing the AsIs state and identifying ToBe processes
- Managing data capture and document validation regarding a variety of projects processes and operations
- Supporting Data Analysts in the production of systems and models
- Analysis of model output producing reports and commentary
- Supporting and adapting clients use of model outputs for decision making
- Supporting and testing technical solution outputs to BAU services
- Develop detailed functional and nonfunctional specifications
- Collaborate with project managers and crossfunctional teams to design and implement digital solutions
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and digital innovation
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
Other responsibilities to include:
- Supporting the growth of the Digital Business Analysis service offering by preparing presentations and other materials for client pitches internal and external comms. Inputting key information into the Turner & Townsend internal database tools e.g. opportunity tracking invoicing. Please note training will be provided on these.
- Supporting junior Business Analysts career growth with coaching and line management opportunities if desired.
- Act as a liaison between client business units and IT teams to ensure digital solutions meet business needs.
- Support guide and advise on the digital transformation initiatives within the rail sector.
Qualifications :
This role will require good analytic and strong numeracy skills with the ability to understand and present data in different representations. Ability or the desire to learn a basic understanding of languages such as VBA and SQL is preferred.
- Degree in an analytic subject. This is not required but preferred.
- Business Analysis qualifications such as BCS or IIBA (desirable). Alternatively extensive experience will be considered.
