The Opportunity:
We are looking for Versatile curious and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Visa Software Engineer you will be an integral part of a multifunctional development team inventing designing building and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.
The Work itself:
- Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visas internal standards for scalability security and reusability
- Collaborate multifunctionally to create design artifacts and develop bestinclass software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings
- Actively contribute to product quality improvements valuable service technology and new business flows in diverse agile squads
- Develop robust and scalable products intended for a myriad of customers including enduser merchants b2b and business to government solutions.
- Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Payment Services Transaction Platforms RealTime Payments and Buy Now Pay Later Technology

Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates relevant technical working knowledge to understand requirements.
- Work with Product owners architects and other relevant stakeholders to gather and refine requirements for one or more products taking in to account the existing tools and solutions across departments.
- Translates functional requirements into system designs for one or more components and communicates how the components will interact.
- Demonstrates understanding of nonfunctional requirements (NFR) and their impact on the system. Leads junior engineers in understanding requirements.
- Design Code test document and implement new applications & as well as existing programs.
- Develop code that complies with design specifications and meets security and coding best practices.
- Work independently and provide guidance to junior developers.
- Work with team members on technical software development issues problem analysis and resolution.
- Participate in design and code review sessions as appropriate to ensure the quality of work delivered by teammates is in accordance with development standards.
- Write automation scripts to functionally automate the testing.
- Learn and adopt technologies like generative AI that provide developer productivity improvements.
- Engages with product engineering teams and product owners during code/design reviews regular meetings oncall rotations and incident responses throughout product development and operations cycles.
- Leverages advanced knowledge of systems/platforms and telemetry analyses to propose isolated improvements in code processes and designs to deliver on customer/business objectives more effectively.

**We do not expect that any single candidate would fulfill all of these characteristics. For instance we have exciting team members who are really focused on building scalable systems but didnt work with payments technology or web applications before joining Visa.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 23 set days a week (determined by leadership/site) with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications :
Basic Qualifications
7 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or with an advanced degree.
5 years of strong handson experience in backend application development using Java 17 or higher Spring Boot Microservices frameworks and RESTful Web Services
Should have good knowledge of basic infrastructure components like app servers (Tomcat) web servers (Apache).
Multi Data Center infrastructure (for high availability) knowledge is a plus.
Experience of working in a realtime application is highly preferred.
Must have working knowledge of relational databases. Should be able to construct an effective data model for a given scenario and SQL.
Proficiency developing unit and automation scripts using Karate JUnit etc.
Knowledge of streaming pipelines / Message Queuing systems like Kafka is a must.
Must have knowledge of build tools like Maven and NPM version control systems like Git Bitbucket workflow tools like JIRA.
Ability to breakdown given requirements into design and process flow.
Should have hands on coding experience to be able to develop the actual product as well as for quick POCs.
Should have good communication skills (Written and Verbal) and must be able to guide the team in case of any challenges faced by the junior developers.
Good working knowledge of Agile methodologies in the context of SDLC.
Proactive & Collaborative mindset towards problem solving automation and innovation in solution delivery.
Working knowledge of Generative AI is a plus especially in the context of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
