To act as a personal representative of the hotel by providing guests with the service that reflects the high standards of the Royal York when seating serving and greeting guests. You are the first and last person the guest encounters during their dining experience; therefore your professionalism is essential in accurately portraying the service excellence of the hotel and restaurant.
- To report to duty punctually in full uniform according to appearance and grooming standards
- To consistently offer personal and friendly service
- To have full knowledge of the food menu and beverage lists in your outlet and all other special promotions taking place in the hotel
- To ensure that the host stand is kept neat and clean at all times
- To have a complete understanding of your daily duties (seating and greeting guests accurately taking reservations handling phones menu changeovers newspaper pickup checking mail filing log book entries etc.)
- To efficiently track all covers in the dining room per station and have general knowledge of the union agreement
- To attend all preshift weekly and monthly meetings to ensure open lines of communication between all employees
- To actively participate in the health and safety procedures as a way to reduce workplace related accidents
- To have read and understood all hotel policies and procedures and departmental standards as outlined in the employee handbook
- To carry out any miscellaneous duties pertaining to the total operation of the outlet as requested by your direct supervisor
- To feel comfortable with voicing opinions suggestions and comments on improving the operation of the Restaurant and ways to improve the guests experience
- To maintain teamwork and good work ethics with all guest (internal and external) by assisting coworkers with duties without compromising the guests dining experience
- To communicate effectively with the servers regarding reservations last minute changes larger parties and special requests
- To offer guests coat check when necessary and retrieve guest coats when departing
- Adhere to ALL Safe Standards ensuring all hygiene and prevention measures are being met
- Adhere to alcohol handling procedures and policies
- Adhere to all LQA standards set for the department
- Will work weekends holidays and shift work as scheduled
- Any other tasks as assigned
Qualifications :
- Previous work experience in a restaurant/food and beverage setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player attitude
- Multi tasked when dealing with high volume of guest requests
- Excellent Computer skills
Physical Aspects of Position include but are not limited to the following:
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
- Constant kneeling pushing pulling lifting
- Frequent ascending or descending ladders stairs and ramps
