Job Description

The Applications Engineer works closely with the Sales team as the primary technical product support interface to our external and internal customers by supporting the selection of the right products/solutions for an application.  As a Drive Systems Applications Engineer you will primarily be focused on Hagglunds Drive System (HD) products. In this role you will:

  • Interpret customer specifications make specific product recommendations and assist with selection of products/solutions.
  • Work with both the Sales team and Customers to help ensure that the hydraulic drives hydraulic motors and controls are successfully applied/implemented to best fit the customers requirements.
  • Assist in technical analysis of machine and application requirements and select best suitable products/solutions (sizing selecting applying handson support).
  • Provide support for drive unit control and provide startup assistance to service team.
  • Determine suitable replacements for components that have become obsolete or have long leadtimes.
  • Support nonstandard requests for power units.
  • Participate in customer visits to confirm solutions and scope of supply as requested.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a technical field (Mechanical Industrial Electrical etc)  and minimum of 3 years experience with hydraulic systems or power transmission applications.
  • Customer facing experience providing technical support
  • Effective communication and presentation skills both written and verbal dependable and a positive attitude and responsiveness toward customers.
  • Entrepreneurial driven mindset.
  • Experience in using 2D and 3D software.
  • Travel Requirement: Average of 20%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Hagglunds technology.
  • Prior work experience in one of the following industry segments (Mining Recycling Chemical Material Handling Marine & Offshore Rubber & Plastics Pulp & Paper).
  • Experience with control systems (e.g. PLC machine control systems). 
  • Applying and using fieldbus connections in control systems (e.g. PLCs PACs etc.) with industrial protocols (e.g. PROFINET Ethernet/IP Modbus TCP CAN bus).
