Senior Radiologic Technologist Operating Room
FullTime; Day Shift; 8am4:30pm
Under indirect supervision performs quality diagnostic radiographic and operating room imaging procedures utilizing the concepts and principles of radiation protection/safety. Coordinates daily work schedule and activities between the operating room and Radiology according to department need. Operates sophisticated Radiographic Fluoroscopic and portable imaging equipment.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
- Performs a variety of diagnostic radiographic procedures to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care. Ensures completion of all work assignments prior to end of shift to assist with reduced length of stay initiatives.
- Identifies each patient and reviews each patients requisition for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information.
- Records pertinent data at all times.
- Assesses patient condition ensures patient safety through proper radiation safety practices and proper positioning devices.
- Reviews each examination for technical accuracy presents completed examination to a radiologist and/or surgeon and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure if necessary.
- Processes all patients through the Epic system immediately upon completion of the exam to ensure proper documentation and billing information.
- Complete understanding and application of all fluoroscopic techniques related to sophisticated imaging equipment.
- Obtains and coordinates use of radiographic equipment necessary for scheduled OR cases. Coordinates with Imaging Manager& supporting staff to provide extra equipment and personnel for unscheduled OR cases.
- Provides inservice education and training for OR procedures to all imaging personnel. Establishes and tests staff competencies for OR procedures on a quarterly basis.
- Properly marks and identifies all images.
- Reports all safety hazards and/or radiographic equipment malfunctions that could harm patients visitors or other hospital employees to appropriate supervisor immediately. Distributes and collects OR film badges.
- Maintains proper stocking and cleanliness of radiographic rooms and safe storage of portable imaging equipment. Performs quarterly lead apron inspection.
- Establishes and maintains a good rapport and working relationship with departmental staff hospital staff patients families physicians and hospital visitors.

- The ability to use equipment in a safe and proper manner.
- Other duties as assigned by appropriate supervisor/manager.

Qualifications :
Education and Experience
- Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology School. Registered by the ARRT and licensed by the state of Maryland.
- Up to two (2) years operating room experience following graduation from an approved school.

Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital department or unit patient safety initiatives.
- Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
- Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.
- Implements policies procedure and standards consistently in the performance of assigned duties.
- Develops effective working relationships and maintains good communication with other team members.
- Identifies possible risks in processes procedures devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
