An overview of The Movement Enrichment Program
The Movement Enrichment Program (TMEP) is an initiative which confronts the disparities in the educational system workforce and economic deficiencies. We work with elementary middle and high school students to improve their academic performance while guiding students towards positive postsecondary pursuits. What sets this program apart from the majority of other educational initiatives is what we call comprehensive intervention which includes most notably onsite and holistic school visits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide academic advising to students in all subject matter (Algebra 1 & 2 Geometry Biology Chemistry English etc.)
Mentor and coach students academically and socialemotionally
Be proactive in assisting students with homework/classwork and provide different ways of understanding a subject matter
Facilitate fun and educational workshops to supplement student learning.
The ability to correct negative behavior in a positive manner.
Take initiative to work on reports data goals and promotion when no students are present.
Peer Advisors keep track of the students they work with daily.
Will attend team meetings as well as attend mandatory trainings.
Must respond promptly to texts and emails.
Have reliable transportation Internet and computer access.
Practice ethical and professional standards of conduct including the requirements of confidentiality regarding student and personnel information. Demonstrate professionalism through punctuality and have consistent reliable attendance. Comply with all National College Resources Foundation (NCRF) and district policies and procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Strong Math Skills are a Plus (Geometry Algebra I&II)
Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills
Strong Mentoring Skills are a Plus
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
Patient and able to connect with students.
Passionate about making a difference with the underrepresented and underserved student populations.
Ability to work: (a) both independently and cooperatively (b) exercise good judgment. (c) creatively (d) organize work (e) set priorities (f) meet deadlines and (g) work under pressure with frequent disruptions.
Skills that exemplify high levels of computer proficiency and application of technology (proficient in MS Excel MS Word MS PowerPoint and Google Platform).
Excellent skills in English grammar spelling and punctuation.
Ability to make public presentations in small or large group settings.
Ability to work as part of a team and continue learning through professional development.
Ability to handle confidential matters in an ethical manner
Ability to work efficiently and effectively with staff and public
Must be available to work 15 20 hours per week.
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
Satisfactory criminal background check including a fingerprint check by the state and/or FBI.
Completion of an additional background check the V.I.P. (Volunteers in Probation)
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
AA Degree or higher
At least 2 years work experience preferably in an educational field
A candidate with a degree or working towards a degree is preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
On occasion lift or move up to 50 lbs.
work primarily at a computer display terminal
PAY
$18 $20 per hour depending on experience and education
